Mighty Ducks expected to announce name change

Anaheim won't be as 'Mighty' in 2007 Well it's finally happened, the hockey team named after a children's Disney movie, will be changing their name.

Through various sources and some of our own investigation work SportsLogos.Net has learned that the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim will become the Anaheim Ducks in time for the 2006/07 NHL season.

The new logo and uniforms are expected to be unveiled during the NHL Olympic Break (February 13 - 27). It is rumoured the new colours will be forest green and orange and will feature a 'slanted script' logo similar to the crest on their black and purple alternate jersey.

The domain name anaheimducks.com was registered on January 24, 2006 by the same group that owns the mightyducks.com domain. The mightyducks.com domain is set to expire in just a few months.

Well, it's about fucking time. Though "forest green and orange" makes me think that the Wild will be displaced as current "ugliest uniforms" title holders.

I remember the only reason i cheered against them in the 2002 playoffs is because i hated the idea of of "Mighty Ducks of Anahiem" being written on the Cup.

Right, 2003, my mistake. And I agree that the old Coyotes jerseys were probably the worst, and the old Bruins 3rd with the big cuddly bear were just loltactular, but something just bothers me about the Wilds jerseys, esp their third one. I feel like I should appreciate, but it really bothers me.....

I'm not a huge fan of the LA Kings' jerseys, but they're not nearly as bad as the 3rd jerseys they had a 95-96 (the year a few teams started having alternate jerseys - Boston, Anaheim, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, LA and Chicago - if I'm not mistaking)
