Maybe if you're looking for the best B0lly interview in ages you should, i don't know, maybe refer to the thread aptly titled "best B0lly interview in ages", but i don't wanna pry, i'm sure you can have a good time in this cheaper by the dozen version of it, too.

Find me another artist capable of going from the mood, intensity of 16 days or NYNY album versions to the completely different but just as poetic live renditions on Letterman's

Red face

Absolutely thought that was some kind of deepfake video, like it just looks really awkward at times, and I thought the commenters were playing along

And then the algorithm spat up some Entertainment Tonight segment about this whole thing, with some clips of Joel talking about it at the time, and I kind of didn't remember what he looked like? And so I kind of thought maybe that whole thing was faked as well? At this point I'm counting the fingers on people I actually run into, shit is fucked

No-one’s really clear about Dougie’s job description - but it’s pretty clear he’s vital to the whole damn operation.

So did we ever find a full link to listen to/watch this whole thing? Or just these little clips?

I watched the first video that was released, got as far as Conan pretending he listened to/liked Atum. He complimented Billy on his ability to orchestrate. Billy interrupted him to say "self taught!" then said "there's a funny story, my dad..." and I shut it off. This was about 15 seconds in total.

It was so obvious that Conan didn't like it. His comment was basically, "I was impressed by how much time you spent working on it. It sounded like you took a lot of time obsessing over it and making it very complicated. I mean, wow, you really make music that is full of sounds. And I heard them and was like, 'So many sounds on this song'."

Billy's response: I AM A SAVANT

I bet Conan is reappraising his whole "let's try having somebody nobody likes on the podcast for a change" thing as we speak.

I think the show is on that Sirius radio thing, so it'd take someone with a subscription to give us a summary of the full interview

(Although if it's only on a radio station, why do they have a video of it... is that just them shooting a commercial for the thing, essentially? I don't fucking know)

I was confused as to what Conan meant by "orchestrated." That's not a term I would use to describe Corgan's writing. When I hear that term, I think of music that has lots of counterpoint and harmonic complexity between different instruments. Most SP music (and this isn't a criticism at all) is fairly simple at its core. There aren't a lot of counterpunctual melodies, and the bass mostly plays the root notes of the chords. The chords are mostly power chords or major or minor triads or maybe sevenths, rather than less common chord tensions or different instruments working together to create weird chords between them.

Corgan is a technically proficient musician in the sense that he can rip a mean solo and apparently is so precise in his playing that it takes him fewer takes than most to lay down a track to satisfaction (according to engineers he's worked with). He's got the chops. But like, he's not writing complex-ass songs. In fact I think his simplicity is probably responsible for, as Pajo claims, Corgan coming in and covering his and Sweeney's more ornate guitar parts with barre chords. You never even really hear that post-rock or Midwest kinda arpeggiated thing from Corgan, or folky fingerstyle, because he likes to just strum.

Unless the new material is more complex and I missed it. I'm going off of the Pumpkins material I know.
