Both of these are perfect examples of why they were better off without Kelli. She really is a one trick pony and required Corner to simplify his songwriting to suit her voice. Don't get me wrong i loved Becoming X when it came out, but Splinter, Bloodsport, and everything IAMX have put out are far more interesting from an artistic standpoint while the Ali stuff hasn't aged well IMO.

Splinter is as good Becoming X I think. Bloodsport does nothing for me.

I think Johnny is very unique. The percussion and the vocals. Velvet Divorce is more typical of their sound. It doesn't stand out as much.

Those are good tracks!

But I do like bloodsport. that 'think harder' track is sick

Bloodsport is like the third album by Portishead. Not an essential album by them. The first two albums by Sneaker Pimps and Portishead are both classics but nothing else is essential.

Chris' new album is out soon, i'd be curious what you think about it.

As for "essential" portishead albums - you do realize there is a decade in between, right?

I haven't heard any IAMX stuff. The idea of the person behind some of the best trip hop around making electropop kind of turned me off.

I agree on Portishead but feel the exact opposite about Sneaker Pimps. I almost didn't even ******* Splinter in my original post, it's not much different than Becoming x really. However Bloodsport is a classic album in my book, it still finds it's way into my car stereo fairly frequently for an album I've had forever.

I don't know that I would call it electropop though, it can definitely go there from time to time, but more often it's closer to the stuff on bloodsport with the occasional Dresden Dolls beat thrown in.

Well if it sounds like Bloodsport then I definitely won't like it.

Have you heard of the trip hop group Alpha? They put out an amazing album last year.

IAMX is just weak... It's like TFE, it's interesting but...

Trip hop is dead right? Third, Heligoland, and even Bloodsport, they sound good, but they're not trip hop per se...

Bloodsport and Third aren't trip hop at all. Haven't heard Heligoland.
