All of the White Stripes albums are solid, even their last two that everyone seems to shit on.

and I'm not even in the "U2 is shite, has always been shite, worst band on the planet" camp, not at all. I just fail to even remember what the hell I ever liked about Achtung Baby. |

deltron 3030 is good but i think you're the only one who does the "hipster" thing so i'm not sure why you're putting that on me
in any case last time i saw or heard from automator it was seeing him live with the newer deltron record before that it was some hit-record thing i was involved with. JGL shout-outs |

and i've seen plenty of praise for SHYG, but even if it's just more of a personal classic for me or something, since i was (& am) a huge automator fan, it's a pretty weird choice of an album to type "TOTAL SHIT" in all caps about

I never actually liked or disliked White Stripes all that much, I just wanted to see if there would be any reactions to that.
Though I did get pretty burned out on Elephant and GBMS. |

I think The White Stripes are fine, but they are pretty overrated and I don't really get why people are so enthusiastic about them. But I try not to be one of those people who dislikes something that is perfectly good because "other people like this too much," which is pretty much what complaining that something is "overrated" is most of the time.
I mostly just listened to White Blood Cells and Elephant, though. |

he writes catchy songs with lots of skronk i dunno what's so hard to understand
the strokes/WS thing is also partly because they overthrew Fred Durst and Korn so people tend to be pretty glad for that |

new word 4 the day
white stripes are possibly the most formulaic band i've ever actively listened to yet there was somethin changing slightly on every record which made somethin like elephant noticeably different from the self-titled well-played jack white... |

less fair to excuse a band from criticism because of some arbitary, self-imposed genre
their albums even look alike |

are you one of those guys who hears a song with a sorta similar guitar line as another song and proclaim it to be a "ripoff"?

i didn't think it was really disputed that w.s. were samey as fuck
great at what they did but they kinda found their thing and stuck with it really, really closely for the 6 or so albums they put out i don't know, maybe i was just spoiled by all the 90s "sea change!" artists or something |
