Default All-purpose metal discussion thread

Been diggin' on the new Doomriders (Nate from Converge's other band) as well as the new Baroness on pretty much constant repeat.

The new Black Dahlia Murder was a bit meh.

Hull + Kylesa are both pretty fucking rad.

What's floating your boats at the moment, 'phorian metalheads?

There is new Baroness? They were pretty rocking at Scion Rock Fest.

Speaking of which, they better put another one of those on because it was the best single day of shows I ever saw, especially Boris and Neurosis.

Right now, digging on the two BTBAM songs that are out from The Great Misdirect. And, Death, as always.

.
Blue Record (2009).rar

And yeah, i'm jealous as hell about that gig, bunch of my favourite bands played it. I'm not complaining though cause we get Soundwave festival this year with Faith No More, ISIS, Meshuggah, Baroness, Clutch etc.

ISIS will be playing over here in december, yay for that. I've been listening to Sublimal genocide by Xasthur a lot lately, great album.

i've always admired tungsten for it's high melting point, but it is kind of brittle

edit: it's also worth pointing out that tungsten has the lowest coefficient of thermal expansion of any pure metal.

*ba-dum tsh!*

Cardiac: Opeth are the win, but i've found their last two records to be a little too hammond-organ-and-gay-elf-vocals for me. That said, Blackwater Park and Deliverance are as close to flawless DM records as you're likely to find.

Blackwater Park is bland and boring with too much Porcupine Tree-isms for my taste. I mean it still rocks but compared to Morningrise, My Arms Your Hearse, and Still Life, it's slight.

I think Ghost Reveries was really good, though, Ghost of Perdition, Baying of the Hounds, and Beneath the Mire are a great combo. More like Beneath da Club.

dude Corrosion Of Conformity are held in pretty high regard in metal circles. I actually met Pepper Keenan with a friend of mine when Down were playing in our city a while ago. We had to leave though cause Phil Anselmo was about to rock up and i'm slightly ethnic.

"Fire and all that. Linda Hamilton"

Also "I need your clothes, your boots, your motorcycle" has the catchiest chorus of 09.

Justin Broadrick has gotten really repetitive, it's sad...

that said the guy was in Napalm Death when he was like seventeen and now he's doing what's basically shoegaze so he gets huge props from me.

totally down with the new Baroness. and also been on somewhat of a High on Fire kick lately.

saw Clutch play with Baroness this summer, and though I wasn't too thrilled over Clutch's newest record...they still put on a hell of a live show. as always.

also been listening to a lot of Melvins and Jesus Lizard.

other than that.....normal doses of kylesa, sleep, neurosis, YOB, mastadon, and the ever present Tool.
