Might be old info, but it's been driving me nuts, so I dug through the old MCIS demos that we have, and it turns out that Have Love Will Travel is the unnamed instrumental from MCIS Demos 2. I always liked that one, so it's nice to have a cleaned-up version.

Why did they have to screw this up?

It's a shame since the live versions are really amazing.
You mean it's loud, like the actual live performance? I am suspicious of these calculations to say if something is improperly mastered or not. It implies there is only one correct way to master all kinds of music.

My comment was more directed to the specific remaster of the title track; the snare lost it's specific presence, something that I always loved about the track. That thwack that is really only heard on those three songs recorded at the Charing Cross sessions. The remaster on Judas O completely killed it, and here it's diminished a bit.

My other complaint is that the acoustic songs are as loud as the loud rock songs, there seems to be no volume continuity between the 5 discs--something the orignal box set did have. Jupiter's Lament is as loud as Marquis in Spades. wtf?

Otherwise, these is some extra sonic detail to the tracks I A/Bd and that's cool. You can really hear the inherent flaws on the acoustic demos on the TT b-sides, pretty cool.

I'd buy the vinyl set if it were priced reasonably.

This. None of this shit is reasonably priced. The boxset is over twice the orignal cost.

the Live disc is easily the best part of this whole set. They should've just made 2 CDs of live material from the 96 tour and let that be that.

getting picky here, but i wish they'd included takes with the circus announcer stuff. the "boys and girls" bit before bullet, "welcome to our circle of friends" and "thank you for participating".

Hate the new vocal track of D'Arcy on Dreaming. Sounds like she's slurring the words the whole time. Why the hell would they use this take?

Also, can someone listen to Mouths Of Babes and see if your copy has a glitch around 1:26? Somethings definitely not right on the copy I have. The rest of the songs on the Zero single sounds atrocious. They never were the best quality, but now they sound even worse.

there's something happening there. i don't know if it's just the volume maxing out or what, but you're right that it sounds like a glitch.

This little set is cute and all, but I think I'm going back to listening to the 12-song promo with Jerry and Marquis tagged on the end, as a sort of Pisces Iscariot of this material. Sorry Bl0bby.

Not that it makes a whole lot of difference given Jimmy's total assault on the drums, but the recording of Silverfuck from Landover seems to be missing Jonathan Melvoin's drums...

Once again, thanks amoergosum for the DR calculations and waveform screenshots. Were it not for you I'd have never noticed that the live disc was mastered loudly.

Wasn't that the last show before his untimely death?

I've never really heard a Silverfuck from early on in the tour like the one that's on Live at the Dark Globe but it's so...bland compared to what it became right before Jimmy left and then subsequently with Matt Walker and the Space Jam parts.

well i broke down and bought it. i figured i'm all in at this point after i ponied up for mellon collie. Haven't had a chance to listen to it all yet. the DVD is definitely the best since the siamese dream deluxe. Packaging is cool, but honestly not as cool as the original release (which i somehow managed to lose while in college and moving every year and roommates stealing discs to listen to)

Regarding some of the new studio stuff,

Blaster Caster is a minute of pure sludge.
The drumming on Ravi Revi Roo has great dynamics.
Slurry is a riff monster.
I like the brightness of Tonight acoustic.
Marquis acoustic is killer.

Finally, it is strange that Billy would add a new Darcy vocal on Dreaming that is far, far worse than the original one. Perhaps the original vocal recording is damaged, lost, or not in his possession.
