While you wait. This sounds like it could be on TAFH, or maybe Iha's last solo album

It's some kids who really want to be Veruca Salt, I guess. But they check SP pretty hard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-KRZP2FxEQ

Yeah, not doing anything innovative, but lately I'm a sucker for modern artists doing everything they can to sound like '90s alt-rock (beeabadoobee, TORRES, etc.). I get that it's insanely derivative and that "sucker" is to some extent the perfect word for what I am, but fuck it, it's fun now and then.

i never understand why people care if music is 'new' and 'innovative' or 'derivative'

if it sounds good and makes me feel ways about stuff i don't care if it's with a big muff or a pedal they wired themselves

I kind of liken it to all the sequels/revivals we've been inundated with lately for shows and movies from 20 or 30 years ago. That shit is generally very creatively lazy and empty. That's not quite the right description for aping '90s alt-rock so closely without adding anything, but it's not "I'm going to take a bunch of my influences and make something new with it," either. It's more like perfectly replicating a Cezanne.

I'm being way too hard on it, but this is some of the stuff I think about and wonder how much I actually, like, agree with myself about it, if that makes sense.

I mean, yeah, OK, Veruca Salt also had women. The handful of Momma songs I have heard are a lot more interesting than VS ever was.

OK, maybe I am taking things too far. But I hear other influences in this group besides mid 90s alt rock. The guitar lead kinds of reminds me of MBV When You Sleep. We'll see if they go anywhere.

All right. I accept the retraction. Also, I've been wanting to say that to someone here for a very long time and probably pulled the trigger too soon. It was a difficult few years when new signups didn't work.

These are the kind of records Corgan geezers on and on about in interviews bitching that everybody is ripping him off and he gets no recognition.

He's said that numerous times and everybody thinks he's an old fart and he IS, but when I listen to this I kinda go hmm maybe he did have a point. The best way I can put it is 12 year old me would ask if this song was recorded in the same studio as Siamese Dream.

Jesus f Christ this is the omega level of cringe, it looks like a phoned in Saturday Night Live parody. I kinda wish it were the beginning of the movie Elephant.

idk how you can say it reminds of Siamese Dream and MBV, those are endless walls of guitars while these kids use guitars just as video props but obviously recorded synths and one guitar made to sound like another synth.

Fuckin helllllllllllll

Ummm... I hear drums, a bass, a guitar, and a lead guitar. What synths? I mean, I still think the song is crappy, but I don't hear any synths.

The bass sounds synth-based to me and the guitar riffs are made to sound more like a synth than actual guitar. Really, were are the guitars, that's my whole point.

They are so into overly precious retro-fetishism but of course the producers have to make it palatable for today's kids . People comparing that to Siamese Dream and My Bloody Valentine... how the fuck do you do that? It just proves once again sight rules over sound.

it's okay Nova Fritz, this guy doesn't even like Smashing Pumpkins' amazing cover of Depeche Mode's "Never Let Me Down," so any "opinions" he might spout @ you can be safely and proudly discarded!

A true fan would know that the band has mislabeled the cover as "Never Let Me Down"
