Come on everybody, stop misconstruing what he is saying. Netphoria, like the media, always latches on to one thing he says and distorts it.
He said that he is only committed to the idea of the Smashing Pumpkins through the end of the year and then he will see how it goes. He isn't saying he will get rid of the band, he might just no longer be committed to the idea. So he may tour as SP and play the hits, but he won't be like all those other liars and dissemblers like PJ or Soundgarden, because he has abandoned the idea... Or something like that. Whatever logic helps him burn the lies of his soul and allows him to cash in.  |

i would just accept sp will always be an oldies band to joe six pack and make music you like. if it catches on, great. if it doesn't, what does it matter. you've already made your mark
it's not like it's just him. alice in chains and soundgarden are still around making new albums nobody cares about. same goes with his succeeding generation like staind, system of a down, korn, ect |

When he was whining six or seven months ago about the very same thing, he claimed he was misquoted. Wonder how he'll write it off when an interviewer asks him about this video in a month on a day he happens to feel good about Smashing Pumpkins.

It's pretty apparent he currently has no plan or long term idea of what to do. He has no drummer or bassist. He just used Tommy Lee for MTAE, does he have an idea of who will drum on the next album? How long are the Killers and Rage guys going to stick around for? They're like Mark Tulin but he has made no plans to permanently fill those spots it seems.

I guess this doesn't bother me as much because he's just saying that the "band" might cease to exist at some point because he really hasn't made any plans for it. Normally he'd blame "the music industry", or "snarks," or "the listening tastes of today's culture" or some other bullshit reason as to why the band would end. This was a little more palatable.

I wonder when he last had a session with a shrink. He comes off sometimes like someone with borderline personality disorder.
What's the point of constantly spewing these delusions? If he has some kind of strategy to create a public dialogue about his work, the legacy and future of SP, the state of the music industry he's doing a shit job. In an alternateb reality where he was talentless he would probably be a gamergate internet troll, living off his brother's SSI checks and venting anonamously his paranoia at women on reditt.
