this whole interview really put me off to the point that i don't know if i'm going to go to these shows or not. or really even waste my time with this band anymore.

i think he realizes that the whole country kind of forgot about him. and he's probably bitter about the fact that chicago wasn't a place he could go and everyone would still be all 'omg we still love you!'

i mean, last time he played a show here, he seemed to like the place pretty much.

well, it now sounds like the man thinks he's an international superstar and is above bothering with chicago anymore.

work doesn't necessarily have to equal "struggle", but jesus christ.

then again, i wasn't born in chicago. so.... : shrug:

nothing that he said there offended me in the slightest.

however, i do believe that if he spent more time in chicago with chicagoan ans not in la with a bunch of asshats, hed find it much more suitable and honest. hed come back down to earth. he'll figure it out someday.

I understand what he’s saying but I think he was being overly harsh and negative in his views of how Chicagoans view him and the band. I’m not from Chicago either yet I don’t understand how he can connect much more with LA than he can Chicago…why not New York if not Chicago? I don’t understand what he wanted from the city and its people. He posted a full page advert in the Chicago papers announcing his return and didn’t bother to play there until over a year later, that may have upset some of them. For the most part Chicagoans seemed very excited about the band getting back together and for years they were all people talked about during the 90’s. Times and tastes change but they still view them as an integral part of their culture. I don’t know…maybe he’s overly critical of them because it’s hometown, or maybe he’s always had a love/hate relationship with the city.

yeah true, but it just proves that these sites are scams. And it also means that every ticketmaster sister site has tickets already too.

Chicago is filled to the brim with egotistical idiots and assholes anyway. I'm surprised he went as easy on the city as he did in his little statement. I've never heard good things about the types of people who attend shows in that town from any given source throughout the years.

Oh yeah, and screw the sun times.

are you fucking kidding you dumb motherfucker?!?! Chicago is the best city on earth!!!! And so are the people that live there!!!!

....ok but srsly. there's great crowds for a lot of shows, depending on the bands, and of course relative to the fact that its 2008. Tool & NIN & Ween, for example, better crowds than several other cities I saw those bands in. And srsly man, if you think down-to-earth chicago people are bad, then i pray to god you never find yourself in LA or New York.

you're buying into the bullshit to, eh? you don't have to like BC personally to enjoy the music. seperate the art from the artist for gods sake.

Do you think of a drunken fornicator when you think of Amadeus Mozart?
Do you think of a woman beating asshole when you think of Beethoven?
Do you think of an eccentric pussy-whipped burn-out when you think of Lennon?

Well, then you shouldn't think of Billy's personal traits when making choices about SP's music either. if you do, you're just as bad as all the journalists who reviewed Zeitgeist.

I'm going to chime in with some love for the Auditorium Theatre as well. It's considered "acoustically perfect," and that's been my experience. I've had the good fortune or seeing some great shows there (Radiohead x 2, Tom Waits, Bjork, Eddie Vedder) and the sound is always top notch.

Yeah, Amex presale blows. But wasn't there another Amex presale where you could actually use something else? Probably not but I thought I read something like that.

So wait, is the Amex presale on Monday only for the Chicago Theatre dates? On Ticketmaster it doesn't list the Auditorium.

I was just kidding before.
I love Chicago, and all of it's inhabitants.
Sorry if I offended anyone, I know how sensitive people here are.

I have a friend who stays that way-ish. flight round-trip for me is $228. not bad when i paid $347 round-trip for baltimore last year. Really want to see the chicago theatre shows. I'll have to wait and see what happens.
