Hey y'all, you guys know that hidden in that Big Beautiful Bill was legislation that would prevent courts from using their (already allocated) funds to enforce contempt citations for the administration's non-compliance with injunctions or temporary restraining orders (unless a bond was posted when the injunction was issued)? And that this even applies retroactively (even to Trump's first term)?

Pretty much, what the administration wants is for court rulings about them to be toothless, so that instead of having to appeal to the Supreme Court to try to get them reversed and risk them upholding the rulings, they can just… keep violating the rulings, because the lower courts can't enforce them, anyway. Just go "ok" and never even bother appealing to a higher court.

Uh, yeah, maybe call your senator about this. Or throw a chair through their window. This is Orban- or Lukashenko-level authoritarianism. Y'all got a polite, legalistic version of the 1933 Enabling Act, and it passed through the House.

There are like 8 people combined between the House and the Senate who care enough to do anything and they don't have any power.

Every single Democrat in the House voted against it. They just didn't have enough votes to send it back to committee because three of them died (what's with geezer Dems still wanting to run and then fucking over the rest of their party when they croak??).

Some Republicans also voted against it. You guys gotta use public dissent to splinter the Republicans. Many Trump voters are already waking up and getting angry. Take advantage of that to make Republicans more scared of their constituents than they are of MAGA.

Yeah, this is the only way forward, I think. I think R reps have learned to stop doing town halls; people need to keep that fury from those up with calls, letters, throwing things at them at restaurants, etc.

Schumer is a decrepit coward acting like this is all business as usual, and that opposition leadership consists entirely of occasionally sending "strongly worded letters" to the White House and shrugging and saying "someone should do something about this." We're fucked on that side. It's only converts who are gonna make any progress here.

I think "Musk and he fell out" sounds weird because we would usually say "he and Musk fell out."
