It really does seem incomprehensible how bad they have fucked up this archive project. Maybe I'll pick up a copy down the road on black vinyl if it seems reasonably priced, but asking people to for over close to $100 for vinyl whose sole preview will be through sub-par streaming audio seems...sleazy. I could get behind it if they released it online to download for $10.00 like a normal band, but this just continues the ongoing fiasco of the Pumpkins archive project.

First song of unreleased material: live performance of "Slunk".

Second song of unreleased material: live performance of "Snail" (some sweet Iha backing vocals). Billy checking his phone/Instagram the whole time and Jimmy literally eyeing the door itching to leave.

Third song of unreleased audio: live performance of "Silveruck" (actually super slappin' so far). Even though I will probably never buy this record, this "Silverfuck" alone at least made attending the stream feel justifed.

V accurate - wouldn't mind having these three on vinyl - if this is representative of what we're getting, I'm sold, and I was previously bashing the whole "I don't want live music on vinyl" thing - still don't, fully - but this is sounding good.

Someone know which show date this actually is? Or a mix of songs from their Japan 1992 tour?

Jimmy's reply to that was stellar - "Maybe in your house!"

I just have so much respect for Jimmy and his sobriety. He seems to approach it with a mix of real-ness and respect for what happened and what could have happened.

Dude is awesome.

Am I understanding correctly that you have to pay for a ticket for the privilege of streaming this shit show?

man pumpkins fan that aren't in any way connected to netphoria sure love talking about netphoria. a lot.

also some of y'all take what's said and just have to twist whatever negativity out of it that you can find. this was mostly a funny and hilarious stream.

but also yes chloe is a bit annoying. and you can tell WPC is annoyed with her. Jimmy has the patience of a saint but that's just Jimmy being Jimmy. he was funny as hell here.

is it me or did they say never before heard music from gish period?? and they just played music from a live show that was never heard before but music we've all heard many, many times? feeling like some tricky marketing was used there.

Yes I was very surprised for it to be a live show, I was expecting some unreleased tunes...

Final Word:

The whole thing was pretty much a train wreck on level with the Siddhartha performance from 2014. Honestly, I would say the quality of the Siddhartha stream (which came straight from Monte's laptop) was better than this supposedly "professionally streamed" event.

It was fun to see Billy and Jimmy reacting to the music with genuine passion, and even though a "Gish 2" would doubtlessly sound awful, it was still somewhat cool to know that style of music still inspires them enough that they'd consider "going back". Some of the stories were funny. There were worse way to spend $19.91.

Highlight of the whole thing wasn't quoted here yet - talking about the budget to record Gish, and how they were blowing all of the money on hotels:

Billy said something then to the tune of "Then we met some really kind and generous ladies..." and Jimmy interrupts and says "No, I met those ladies!" and Billy laughs and says "I was trying to skip that part because your wife is in the room..." and Jimmy says "I was NOT married at that point in time."

Guess they let them stay with them or something so they could use more money on recording Gish and less money on hotels, BC said it wouldn't have been the same album without them.

Lots of talk throughout the night about "I have to save that story for the book..." but then he poked fun at himself early on and said "Yeah, that book that will never come out..."

Yeah, that's what was said... I was expecting like b-sides or something to that effect. What is playing now is more unreleased stuff, but because we don't know where it's from, it's kind of a mystery.

NP: Some acoustic live version of Obscured that sounds p rad

Live release only on overpriced vinyl, why am I not surprised

Dude has extensive archives of the majority of their live career, he will probably continue to sit on these not knowing what to do with them until he dies

Also I was hoping they'd play some Gish recording session or demo stuff, I'm sure we don't have everything. Didn't they attempt Razor in the studio during that time?
