Predictions for 2025
I’ve got a good feeling about 2025 in Pumpkinsland.
I think we’re finally going to see one of the big fan requested releases. Machina - 25th anniversary Metro show? Zwan Melloncollie related? - 30th anniversary Just a feeling based in the 10-disc set already being prepped for Zuzu’s. And the fact the band haven’t hinted at a new album next year. Feels like the schedule is clear and the timings align. What are your predictions for 2025, gang? |

We'll get none of that.
What we will get is some Zuzu's "CD in a slip case" archive release which will be of a show from some weird line up that no one ever wanted. A Billy solo acoustic album. A very belated video for one of the AMM tracks. Another Billy solo acoustic album. |

You get nothing. Just another round at the till nostalgia tour playing the tired ass hits for the 10,000th time and you will all somehow get excited about it again. Lol

Billy Corgan releases a solo synth album, exploring atmospheric and experimental sounds.
Katie Cole leaves The Smashing Pumpkins to focus on her solo career, sharing a heartfelt farewell with fans. Billy’s baby boy, Orion Zephyr Corgan, is born. A new The Complex EP is released, featuring five tracks. Madame Zuzu’s launches a SP-inspired pet merch line, with proceeds supporting PAWS Chicago.. James Iha teases a solo project, featuring other singers. Jeff Schroeder joins A Perfect Circle. The Machina Reissue is announced to be released "very soon", no dates are given, nobody hears of it again for another year. |

if i had any inkling anywhere between like... 1996 and 2002 that there would be multiple billy solo albums, i'd have been delighted at the idea. and yet, the reality of them is so different than what i'd have imagined back then. as bill o'reilly so poetically put it, "fuckin thing sucks!!!!" |

Billy's solo albums? "TheFutureEmbrace" has aged like fine wine, and was at its initial release at least interesting and suprising. "Ogilala" is a strong collection of songs, it needed just another few days of vocal overdubs to be among his best albums. "Cotillions" is an overly generous amount of music, but there are certainly gems on there.
"Chicago Kid" could be one Corgan's very best, and in general, I am all for more solo albums. That being said, I agree with what most people are saying here, it should be a year focusing on reissues and archive releases, while WPC welcomes a new child and the band slowly starts thinking about what the next album could be like. |

For 2025 I think Billy will start devoting more time, energy & resources into the N.W.A. (National Wrestling Alliance)
This is his opportunity to take the company to the next level and compete against the worldwide competition of highly acclaimed titans of the industry. Social media is not what it used to be so I would expect Billy to reach out to wrestling fans in new and exciting ways that really helps solidify the statement that the N.W.A is here to stay! Hiring exciting new talent is one of the key ingredients to run a successful wrestling company in the 21st century, and with the right star, that would certainly put the N.W.A on the map! And don't forget about Hollywood. Landing a movie deal would create a real buzz and shake up the competition. It could be a game changer! And last but not least (in fact, it may be the most important) Merchandise! The backbone to every healthy profitable business is accompanying merchandise. (Just imagine Star Wars without action figures, you can't!) Billy needs to collaborate with some hot and upcoming artists/creatives to launch an exclusive new range of products for the new year, maybe even in-clude the year 2025 on the merchandise itself to give the fans that sense of "I was there in 2025 when the N.W.A permanently revolutionized the landscape of professional wrestling." Talk about a slam dunk! Last edited by bright_doom : 12-26-2024 at 08:01 PM. |

Still don't know why he didn't released Chicago Kid. Am I remembering correctly that he blamed the fans for his cowardice in not putting it out there?

Done right is going to be a big ask, getting them out via a proper label would involve more sleevenotes, proper artwork etc. Living in hope though

I think it's not wanting to do a fairly standard solo acoustic project and wanting to go somewhere a bit weirder instead, the blaming the fans thing is nonsense

So what you're saying is you want two scented candles, a signed/numbered black & white vintage postcard and for it to be released on cassette?

Yes, all the archive stuff should be downloadable. Do it the way Neil Young or King Crimson have done it; he'd make a fortune with no 3rd party to pay (e.g. Bandcamp).

He isn't going to make a fortune. Realistically SP hardcore fans aren't going to deliver massive financial returns for niche releases because there aren't enough losers willing to fork out that kind of cash.

If they were done a little more professionally they would absolutely sell more...
Off the top of my head - - reasonable shipping - a website for vault releases rather than the backend of Zuzu's - some sort of members club/subscription - sleevenotes / better liner art for each individual release - fix releases to one per quarter not ad hoc - non silly prices - fixed formats not random CDs here and there There's no overarching gameplan with these, it's all making it up as they go, which is fine but the whole thing could be a lot better if they outsourced |

If they wouldn’t sell enough it’s Bill’s fault for diminishing the brand by not playing the game, poor release strategies, a DIY approach because he didn’t want to work with anyone else (major labels). Other legacy band’s have high profile archive releases and live shows. Bill doesn’t know which songs he writes are hits, won’t release them. Plus the way he sings now etc etc
There should be a 30th anniversary of MCIS release. Get some young, new acts to cover their songs. The Machina reissue should be a high profile release, not something that slips out to prop up the profits of a tea shop. Albums, singles and the CD format have never stopped being the relevant, default way of releasing music. |

Absolutely no need for a MCIS 30th. The previous reissue was exhaustive, and is still in print. There are about 300 archive releases I would prefer to a completely redundant MCIS cash grab.
