Default Vault-like Subscription Model

Why has BC never bothered with something like this?

https://thirdmanrecords.com/products/vault-subscription

https://www.discogs.com/label/307889...s-Vault?page=1

Ability to find out what the fans want prior to production. Only produce the quantity that's ordered. Sell for a price that guarantees it's profitable.

Seems like an easy, low risk way to make fans happy. (Maybe that's the issue?)

SPRC was something like that, wasn't it?

Wasn’t that just a few mp3s released sporadically?

Forgot all about SPRC. Another one thrown on the ever growing scrapheap of abandoned projects.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...DzWoChkE9iZHjL

But yeah, a cool idea, but Big Willy C doesn't care about it. Maybe throw a note to his social media manager, he might pay attention then.

After bitching long enough about the postage prices at Zuzu’s and seeing them change, I feel like we’re already being watched.

Such a missed opportunity, least we got a few cool demos from it. Wonder what happened behind the scenes here, fair to say plans were made then fell apart

It doesn't need to be some "secret club" with tiered subscriptions and shit. It could just be as simple as:

First 100 presale orders get an autographed copy, remaining 400 copies will go on Zuzus.

Plus, stop with all the weird gimmicks. Release professional, consistent looking products that fit on collector's shelves. No one wants a fucking candle in the record collection. We are music fans, not crap hoarders.

It was around the same time that the Gish and Siamese Dream reissues were released, I remember Frail and Bedazzled was like a "thank you" download for preordering them. Perhaps these were intended to be teasers to coerce you into buying the reissue, or maybe they were afterthought tracks. Or maybe BC just didn't want to give stuff away for free after Teargarden didn't work.

Either that, or like most projects, he got bored and forgot about it.

There were already many people wanting them to do more CD releases and cheaper shipping costs outside the States in the comment section on ZuZu's Instagram site.

But I was the only one asking also for a next bunch of the MACHINA reissue box set published on 1st of April...

There’s such a wealth of SP live/demo material already out there that there’s probably not much point.

Although I wish they were cheaper(especially the international shipping), I greatly prefer the curated vinyl approach to archive releases. Make it special.

That was the plan and why Frank started recording the material he was coming across on SPLRA (marked as vault)

I was told Billy put Kerry Brown in charge of a lot of it. After Kerry was canned, I think it fell by the wayside. I've always wondered if all those leaked demos from a while back were meant to be part of the project.

rest assured, a vault-like Subscription Model was planned, prepared and even completed but they ran into "legal issues" and the whole thing is now "just sitting on a shelf"

Machina reissue 2025 [or later]

happy new year

It wasn't too behind the scenes though. Billy literally started talking about hypothetical pricing models on the Oboard, then threw a hissy fit when there was backlash about what he said.

Remember The Lucky 13 project? It was intended to be a group of "super fans" put together and led by Monte, but never got off the ground because it was led by Monte. I'm not sure how much detail I can go into about him or the project but a lot of things came tumbling down not long after that fell apart. The projects success would have meant more songs coming through the SPRC or something similar. (Edit: Either for free or for purchase)

When I was searching for the above thread, I found this one. They were apparently considering releasing the latter 2 Double Door shows in full? ...
At least this gives me hope that they possibly did end up transferring/mixing those 2 shows and they're just sitting on a HDD somewhere waiting for release.
