Default european shows

For the moment they have 3 shows in Europe (England and Ireland): https://www.facebook.com/smashingpumpkins/events

Does anyone know more about this? Are they going to do more shows in Europe?

How to say you're American without saying you're American:

Why is TSP billed over Weezer?

Makes sense. I'm old and out of touch so could be way off, but Weezer fell off a cliff much sooner and harder than the Pumpkins did. The only thing Weezer get now is Buddy Holly on "Kerrang's Top 100 Videos".

Probably not from the UK, cause they are not Europeans. And Ireland is part of the UK, so...

UK has LEFT EU but is still part of Europe. This does not change the fact that I would like to know if SP is coming to the rest of Europe as well

Oh they are? Well, like I said, I'm old and out of touch and don't go noncing on the tiktoks.

To be clear though, is this an "in general" claim or specifically about the UK?
Because I thought general idiot opinion around here was there was the debut, there was the disappointment of Pinkerton, then Hash Pipe, and then that Beverley Hills singalong.

Yeah I'll be trying to go to this, see which date works best for us. Never been to Cardiff Castle for a gig so I might give that a try, done the Utilita in Birmingham and the O2 in London a few times each.

I also like Weezer, and my wife likes them more than she does SP, so it's a win-win for us both.

o2 for me. Cardiff Castle stands out though as the nicest venue by a long way, so might try to do that too. Weezer I like, but I'd never travel to see them headline so I'm pretty happy with that lineup.

Worth noting the Eden Project will be running gigs around then too, could possibly be added.

If you do a google trends comparison on Weezer and Smashing Pumpkins, it’s about the same.

Weezer are 3-4 times bigger than TSP based on social media metrics. Hell, even if you go by antiquated stuff like sales figures Weezer have had several top ten billboard album releases recently. Weezer has also had four #1 singles in the last three years. TSP only have one #1 with 1979.

I really don't like Weezer. I'd rather see them playing with some UK band like Suede.

Suede could limit themselves to a thirtieth of their overall recorded output and still fucking crush both bands as a live act in 2023

Hard for me to objectively answer this one, despite liking Weezer, but...

And I'm not even sure what metric we are using nowadays to determine recent success of a band, but:

Beguiled's video on YouTube has 2.3m views (admittedly, I had forgotten the name of that song - took me a minute) and the singles from the first two EPs of SZNZ have 1 million (A little bit of love) and 318k (records) play counts.

Obviously YouTube prob isn't the best metric, but it says something, right?

But regardless, I think as tossed around here, it's a co-headlining tour.

Not a bad pairing. Good levels of nostalgia between the two, similar fanbase... and both of their recent album endeavors were WAY too ambitious.
