Porcelina Vs TTEOR
I guess I always compare them because they're MCIS's two "epics". there's something over-insistent about Ruby like a drunk person telling you their dream too loudly but that's part of its glory. Porcelina is probably more conventional but more beautiful too.

I've listened to live recordings so much, that every time I hear the album version of Ruby, I wish instead of fading out at the end, that it kicked back in with the heavy outro jam they did on the MCIS tour.
Probably my favorite SP song. |

Live, TTEOR over Porcelina.
on MCIS, however, the converse rules. |

This thread is boring, let's make a late-2000-Porcelina VS 1998-TTEOR poll.

These two songs always "went together" for me as well. Mostly because they both sounded very "epic" in their scope as rock songs.

two of SP's best songs, sure they are both 'epics', but they are also very different... porcelina with it's imagery and ruby with it's longing/sadness/hope whatever. if I had to pick I'd probably pick ... TTEOR. because of the awesome MCIS era live ending that was already mentioned. imagine being on stage possibly on psychedelics and pulling that shit off. I always imagine the point where billy was writing the songs on an acoustic at like 7am (I guess since I'm a songwriter)... must have felt great

I'd call it even. How about a Porcelina vs. Medellia thread?

They're both great. And Medellia is like the film negative of Porcelina.

porcelina isnt that great, i always found it annoying during the "without a care" part that the guitars really arent in tempo at all it is irritating. and hes singing in the wrong key, the soft parts are nice though. And the "without a care in this life, its what you take that makes it right" part makes up for earlier. Still Thru the eyes rapes it hardcore.

porcelina is one of my top 5 sp songs of all time so it gets my vote, it's also my favorite song to play on guitar.

Also, please explain why you feel that playing eighth and sixteenth notes is not in tempo? To contribute, I like TTEOR better just because I feel like I can relate to it better lyrics-wise. But Porcelina is an excellent song. |

what polymeter??
this isnt a fucking meshuggah song. its a simple 4/4 with subdivisions that alternate between the two parts of the riff. jesus christ btw wilch, i really would love to know where you got your impressive musical education. also, please document yourself listening to meshuggah for the first time so i can see your head explode |
