I'm just glad a couple of you haven't gone completely deaf. I'm so thrown off by the "Zodeon is 7 out of 10" crowd. Would any of that crowd like to confirm if they'd rate it that way if it was from a new or unknown artist? Would you even finish the album? Be honest. What is a 10/10 if this is a 7/10?

My rating may have slipped to 6/10 after a few listens, as I'm really not into the last two songs. But all in all it's a nice little collection, refreshingly it doesn't have some big concept, it's just songs (for now, unless we find out later there's some big concept). It's like we got all the good Teargarden songs at once and that makes them more enjoyable.

I can hear James, I can hear Jimmy, I can more or less make out what Billy is singing and his voice isn't awful. I rather like the 70s organs, reminds me of Arzachel or some other obscure prog rock stuff, of which I am a fan.

I'm keen now to hear the four songs that aren't released yet, add them to it, and have a decent 14 song album (even though four are b-sides).

I never buy into the "if this were a new band" argument. They aren't a new band, so there's history there (31 years in my case). That makes a difference. I do listen to new music, but there's SO much new music out that I find it hard to remember to go back to what I find. I hear new music I think "I love this" but unless I buy it I often forget about it, as I don't have a connection to it (yet).

The connection I have with SP is what's making me listen to the music.

After a couple of listens I don't get the hate towards the last two songs on Zodeon. To my ears they fit in fine with everything that came before. Based on what I'd read on forums I was expecting "Excelsior" to be some barely written honky tonk mess.

As for it being a collection of songs without some overarching concept, of course this is true but at the same time it is also supposed to be a Shiny (and the Machines of God? or is the band now called Zodeon?) live album. That is why the title is Zodeon at Crystal hall (as in The Smashing Pumpkins Live at Kawasaki).

There's a few Cyr songs I've never made it to the end of. Same with Atum. But I've listened to songs from Atum already a lot more than Cyr.

It’s literally a song dump. I didn’t like Wyttch so I didn’t listen to Schadenfreud is illogical.

Many tracks on Cyr - ATUM are interchangeable.
