Default Green Day inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Pretty great honor. I remember at the time plenty of people figured Green Day would be just a flash in the pan.

Other inductees include: Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lou Reed and Joan Jett

Fun Fact: my dad's company built the lighting systems at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!

Fuzzy you wanna talk shit about pop music for being vapid and mainstream but you care about RnRHoF which is like the fucking vanguard of the most safe, consumable rock music ever created.

The whole idea of having a HoF is anti-RocknRoll

Honestly even saying "RocknRoll" makes me cringe

Punk, Alternative, psychedelic

Whatever, just not "RocknRoll"

Green Days been one of the top grossing Rock acts over the last 20 years. I'm pretty sure American Idiot is right up there as far as sales go for Rock artists in the last 10 years.

They're one of the few bands from the 90's that still sell out arenas. You really don't know 2 shits about music do you?

I don't think theres anything wrong with honoring the all-time greats who have managed to sustain relevancy decade after decade. Lord knows it isn't easy to do in the music business.

Yeah? Why is that? I notice you commonly spout your opinion on things without adding even one iota of context or reasoning to your simplistic statements.

I'm sure the Joan Jett induction has a lot to do with her time in the runaways... Which was a pretty ground breaking band at the time.

Any organization that allows Green Day to share a spot on a list that has Lou Reed on it should not exist

I don't hate them but they're so incredibly mediocre which is inevitably the type of bands a HoF is going to choose

Green Days been one of the few bands who have consistently put out quality music. Over the years the ratio has lessened, but theres always been great tracks to enjoy.

I know someone does it every time but....in HOF: Green Day.

Not in HOF: the Cure, Kraftwerk, MC5, the New York Dolls.

Never even nominated once: The Smiths, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Roxy Music, the Pixies, Iron Maiden, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag.....the list goes on...

I mean i can see oh record sales blahblah. Well...the cure have had good record sales. So has Iron Maiden. And i'm sure the smiths numbers aren't too shabby either.

But i mean the above mentoned band are all among the most influential bands of all time. No, not quite like the beatles or Zeppelin or even VU, but pretty fucking high on the list still

I think this song perfectly describes all of us aging, jaded music fans. It's one of those examples of Billie Joes lyricism transforming a good song into an excellent song.
