put out a special little deluxe edition of our special little album, with two new tracks previously only available on the bandcamp/physical versions - including this Depeche Mode cover I'm quite proud of:

Any netphorians on the pacific northwest coast? My band Fred Cracklin will be touring there in a couple weeks ---->>
7/4- Seattle, WA - Drongo HQ 7/5- Seattle, WA - 1st Ave Bridge 7/7- Bellingham, WA - Generator Show 7/8- Vancouver, BC - The Astoria 7/10- Victoria, BC - Eventide Series Also I met ourruseoffools this past week as he showed up to our show and it was our worst possible show ever lol, but was lovely to meet and chat with another fellow 'phorian. The only other time we've had equipment fail on stage was when smashingjj came out to see us so there mjust be a netphorian curse. makes sense. |

I recorded some tracks which I call "wood punk" as they are centered around an acoustic guitar and a cajon. I played everything except some of the "oi, oi, ois" in the first track which were done by two former bandmates.
These are four tracks, and it is the first time I have written in German, and generally this project was very unusual for what I usually do. Everything was written very quickly. I was aiming for an acoustic version of basic German small club punk, mixed with some "Ton, Steine, Scherben", and "Therapy?". The final song is a cover with most lyrics rewritten. I used Distrokid, so the tracks are pretty much everywhere. Here is the YouTube link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM_...WfsPRyjL4I8upg |

Hey, thanks! I went to a small local studio and we put a lot of thought into the mix. I wanted some very old-fashioned LCR feel in there, which went very much against the engineer's instincts but we got a decent compromise.

So a little context...
I'm a big fan of The Prodigy. Been a fan since '93. And I've been a part of a few fan forums for The Prodigy over the years back when forums were all the rage. One of them is called Brainkiller, which I joined back in 2001. Liam Howlett of The Prodigy would secretly peruse it. And it eventually got big enough that BK got to interview Liam a couple times and management would send merch for the forum's competitions. Brainkiller is still going strong and moved to Discord. It is the longest running active Prodigy fan community. Back in 2003, the community decided to host their own music competitions where members could send in their original tracks and the community would vote on them. The first competition had 70 entries. The 12 most voted tracks would go onto a compilation, which was called Music From The Jilted Generation in honor of The Prodigy's second album album. My track was one of the 12 top voted tracks. The competition and compilation got so popular that there ended being 5 volumes over 10 years. Why am I telling you all of this? Well, 2023 was the 20th anniversary of that first compilation. And when I saw that 2024 was gonna be the 30th anniversary of The Prodigy's Music For The Jilted Generation, I thought this would be the perfect moment to bring everything full circle. So for the last 18 months, I secretly organized a remix album for Jilted featuring producers I've met over the years through community and music compilations. Thought it'd be a cool way to honor the album on its 30th anniversary as well as the Brainkiller community that's still going strong. Since we dropped it this past Saturday, it's approaching over 1,800 downloads on Bandcamp and nearly 6K views on YouTube. I even got an e-mail from Liam Howlett himself praising it and calling it "fukin mega." So I wanted to share it here with you all. BRAINKILLER PRESENTS MUSIC FOR THE JILTED GENERATION REMIXED 01 Break & Enter (The Supersonic Army Remix) 02 Their Law (Noise Generator Remix) 03 Full Throttle (Cray23 Remix) 04 Voodoo People (High Voltage Remix) 05 Speedway [Theme From Fastlane] (Justin Credible Remix) 06 The Heat [The Energy] (Matt Aquila Remix) 07 Poison (Alia Cosmic Remix) 08 No Good [Start The Dance] (Mechaneko Remix) 09 One Love (Jesse Gorter Remix) 10 3 Kilos (Thermonuclearity Remix) 11 Skylined (Studio Star Remix) 12 Claustrophobic Sting (Neorev Remix) <-- me Bandamp: https://brainkillerprodigy.bandcamp....ration-remixed Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/brainkillerpr...-mftjg-remixed Mixcloud: https://www.mixcloud.com/Brainkiller...ation-remixed/ Update: Got an e-mail from the man himself, Mr. Liam Howlett... "Yo mate , Just listened to it a few times , First of all massive respect for puttin this all together man and to all the producers who spent their time doin it , I think its fukin mega , it has such a broad selection of styles goin down ," And he went on to mention some of this faves and wanting to know more about the producers involved. This is me right now... What a legend! We're all super stoked Last edited by MyKeyZ : 07-20-2024 at 11:32 AM. |

Yes lad I grew up listening to the Prodigy that is wicked. MyKeyZ yr remix is pumpin dude, so fun. Jilted Generation a classic. Prodigy started up a few towns away from me.
Paranoid lad that clip is super fun. That drummer is loose in the best way and yer chords are crunchin feller. You could get even weirder I think, especially if ye got yourselves a bassist! |

Liam and I actually have been talking for several years now after he reached out to me on Instagram. I happened to comment on one his posts about this old unused riff from a studio vid he posted earlier. I had just released my album Disrupt The Scene at the time. He must've remembered my alias Neorev, since I've shared my music on the Brainkiller and official Prodigy forums before, because a couple days later I got a DM from him. He mentioned my album and how he really liked it. We had a cool convo on music production and gear. He is very cool and down to earth, no BS type of dude. I knew Liam would check it out, but him actually liking it was up in there. Like I said, he is honest and cuts straight to the point. So seeing his overwhelmingly positive response to the remix album means a lot to me and the guys involved. And to have him mention my remix in particular along with a couple others as his faves. A little more from Liam's e-mail... "I think ur ‘Claustrophobic’ is bangin, it hits hard and relentless , *that's my fave ….. along with ‘Break & enter’ - especially at 03.01 when the bass riff comes in with the drums ….yeeeah ! Poison is really cool as well for a totally different angle , i usually like my D n B harder but this remix really works , And Full Throttle is sick , the drums are dangerous" Quote:
I've been listening to The Prodigy since I was 9 lol. I'm from the States. I was listening to Nirvana, The Breeders, The Smashing Pumpkins, etc. Then my classmate brought in his older sister's Priority Records' Best Of Rave comp on tape. I can remember hearing L.A. Style's James Brown Is Dead for the first time. On that same tape was The Prodigy's remix of Instruments Of Darkness from The Art Of Noise. I began buying up rave comps after that. One of them had Everybody In The Place and another had Charly. Which lead to me buying Experience and the US Charly/EITP EP. And the rest is history. Nothing beats the build up to the release of The Fat Of The Land. It was just the perfect storm. The Firestarter video, then Breathe, them performing on MTV's Fashionably Loud, and their live performance of Breathe on the MTV Music Awards, with Madonna introducing them. I remember putting the Wipeout XL game disc into my CD player so I could record the instrumental of Firestarter off it since the single had been released in the US yet. Even my mom loved the instrumental and made me make her a copy. Ah man, such a great time. Nothing will beat the 90s. P.S. We're closing in on 2,500 downloads on Bandcamp.
