I've been working on a new Curiously Strong Peppermints album since the pandemic began, recording the backing tracks under quarantine in April/May, overdubs throughout this summer and fall. It's a concept album about the pandemic, about the paranoia, apocalyptic feeling, fear, denialism, misinformation, etc. I know I posted the longer song several months ago, but the album is nearly done, to be released in a few weeks.

re deletion — i tend to post sketches that i eventually scrub from the hosting site when a more finished version comes along, usually without considering the ripple effect in terms of creating dead links on netphoria (i use soundcloud as a throwaway host). i'll pm you a link to the finished collections and whatnot, if you're interested.

i'm always up for talking process. and am curious to hear what you're working on, if you feel like sharing.

thanks for sharing! i do enjoy it. admittedly, i'm most interested in the gradually evolving tones beneath the overlaid voice recording. the low-frequency rumbles against the birds chirping makes for an interesting contrast. and i like the way the sound that becomes prevalent around the 9-minute mark is sort of teasingly hovering in the periphery up until that point. the voiceover recording does put me off slightly. i feel like it's trying to force me into feeling unnerved, a la godspeed you black emperor. it certainly creates a mood, but, for me, it limits the "evocative potential," in that one is tethered to the voice, though the textures might otherwise carry one off to who knows where.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah listening to it again before posting it I did sort of come to the same conclusion. The intention wasn't to make the listener feel unnerved. I put it there quite simply because I love the way it sounds. But I do now wonder if the piece would work more effectively without the distraction of that bit

It is a true story. They did not kill each other though, the deaths were only related through 2020.
