Thumbs down Dear Microsoft: Fuck You

If i pay AU$650 for a console, i want it to last at least a year before it catches fire and ceases to work. And that 6-month warranty you gave me? pretty clever considering it took 6 months and 2 weeks to happen.

Umm considering this has been happening for over a year now and you just admitted you bought your 360 6 months you were kind of asking for it.

couldn't agree more. i would never buy a 360.. it's cheaper than a PS3 for a reason

6 month warranty? The standard warranty for a 360 is 1 year, 3 years for the RRoD.

Failure rate of 33% means I would not be stupid enough to buy the product. Every 6 months the failure rate climbs higher. You bought a faulty product that is well known for being a faulty product, deal with it.

Apparently the company bases it's figures on a case study of 1040 Xbox 360 consoles which were all sold between April and July of 2007. Of those 1040, 171 consoles failed and 102 of those failures were caused by the dreaded red ring of death.


So even if you don't count the red ring of death the 360 still has a 6% failure rate.

I wonder how many customers have held off buying one due to the hardware problems? If the silly buggers had got things right from the beginning they probably would have sold a hell of a lot more.

Theres also the fact that they extended warranty which was a good move but have horrible customer service. I hear constant stories of problems people having to send the consoles in multiple times, damaging the consoles etc...

i don't see how you would need an extended guarantee to cover your damage.
according to what Rider says, the product has clearly been proven to have a fabrication defect. it depends how much hassle you want to get into, but i would definitely have pursued a refund.
