Metallica is way less embarrassing than modern Smashing Pumpkins because Metallica are doing what they do and haven't slowed down. They're not catering to modern pop. They're a band that actually goes in the studio and write, perform, and record songs together. Again, I'm not approaching this as a fan of Metallica. You won't see be downloading and listening to Metallica for fun. At least Metallica's new music doesn't make me embarrassed to have on. If new Smashing Pumpkins came on my car radio while sitting in traffic, I would quickly cringe myself all the way down into my driver's seat out of view.

I remember the first time I saw Limp Bizkit was on MTV Spring Break when they played Fashionably Loud with Pitchshifter.

I always found Limp Bizkit cringe and never got into them. Whereas I watched Pitchshifter and became a fan. I rather listen to Pitchshifter.

If only Billy put as much emotion as James slamming a door into his own music

They are not more embarrassing. At least IHA is up on stage with the pumpkins… metallicas new album sounds like giving men in their 60s testosterone shots, ouch… you should probably be embarrassed to have that coming out of your car windows, yes

Your argument is “at least there’s still guitars!” Which is the absolute worst in my opinion… just write a good fucking song and that goes for both Met and TSP

While Smashing Pumpkins are men in their late 50s trying to sound like Taylor Swift or Billie Eilish... that is way more embarrassing.

Iha is a puppet up on stage doing what Billy wants to collect an easy paycheck. They can't even get the band in the studio to write music together.

It has absolutely nothing to do with guitars.

You brought up Limp Bizkit.

You got Limp Bizkit, Metallica, and Smashing Pumpkins.

Two of the three are doing what they've always done, while one is trying to be the new Sir Gaga, dressing up in his silly outfits, bringing wrestlers on stage, thinking he's gonna be modern day Billboard Hot 100 pop icon in his late 50s.

Yes, 2023 Smashing Pumpkins are more embarrassing than the other two.

does anyone here really know how the Pumpkins come off to the outside world by this point? I mean outside of here/the "hardcore" base. is it truly that embarrassing or more just like "oh wow... they still are ambitious!"

the notion of someone listening to this and going "yep... that's the same ol' Billy Corgan!" is wild to me

A guy I know whose frame of reference is just Gish and Siamese Dream was talking with some other guys and saying “yo so they’re doing 33 songs and each week they’re doing a podcast for each song like how crazy is that?!”, and I kind of chimed in just shy of sounding like an elitist by saying “yeah I’m really not sure about this album so far, it’s not really doing it for me in the same way”, and he just said “yeah”, then went “Gish! I love Gish! I actually like Gish more than Siamese Dreams!”. So I think people are just like “dang, that sure is ambitious! Can’t wait to not listen to it!”

I am completely unashamed to say I saw Limp Bizkit on their recent live tour, and they were really fucking good. Still got their energy, still do what they always do, and their new songs blend in to their old ones. Seen them a few times over the years and they always fuckin' bring it.

Perhaps Billy should just get into the abandoned rap/nu-metal scene in 2023 and try to bring it back, it's not like he has anything to lose.

Bring on the dad-rap Billiam, I know you've got it in you.
