Default Hillary Backers In Pennsylvania Meet Privately With Top McCain Adviser

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpoi...ennsylvani.php

Quote:
A brother of New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and local Democrats who backed her unsuccessful presidential campaign socialized privately Monday with a top surrogate of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain.

The private gathering featured Carly Fiorina, Mr. McCain's top economic adviser, and took place at the Dunmore home of political consultant Jamie Brazil, a longtime friend of Mrs. Clinton's family who has signed on as paid national director of Mr. McCain's Citizens for McCain Coalition.

The attendees included Tony Rodham, Mrs. Clinton's youngest sibling, his wife, Megan, and their two children; attorney Kathleen Granahan Kane, who coordinated Mrs. Clinton's presidential campaign in Northeast Pennsylvania during the primary election; and Virginia McGregor, sister of Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty.

With the Democratic National Convention less than a week away, the gathering raises questions about the support Illinois Sen. Barack Obama can expect from former local supporters of Mrs. Clinton, who dominated at the polls in the Northeast in the April primary election.
If true, crazy Clinton surrogates can potentially fuck this election for Obama.

Hillary wants it to be 2012 tomorrow.

no kidding.

i don't think anyone really expected this to be a cakewalk for the guy, tho.

however, i did see that the clinton people are organizing a "whip team" to prevent protesters from getting overly zealous about causing trouble at the convention. what that exactly means, i have no idea.

fuck.

The truth hurts.

Obama's been campaigning his ass off for how many months now? Hillary alone gave him a severe beating even if he made it through. At this point, he's exhausted, Obama fever is dying down a bit since he had no choice but to come out with it in full force during the primaries to keep going, and McCain is taking advantage.

i don't get why have your panties in such a tight knot.

i just looked at the fivethirtyeight thing, and it's still projecting obama as the winner. as soon as the VP's get announced, this thing is going to amp the fuck up again, then we'll probably see some *action*.

Predictions are great. Just ask Presidents Gore and Kerry.

A VP has never won or lost a presidential campaign. It's largely unimportant.

i wasn't saying that it was; only that when the VPs are announced will there be significant media movement again.

Dick Cheney really helped convince a lot of voters that while Bush may seem clueless at times, he's there to back him up. Face it, he basically ended up running the show along with Rove. And that little bit of confidence that he gave voters may have been just enough to turn out enough of them to justify a Florida victory.

Al Gore helped make the ticket look really young and energized after 12 years of old white dudes.

Guys like Quayle, Kemp, Lieberman, and Edwards were pretty useless. I'd agree that most of the time, that is indeed the case. But there are and will continue to be exceptions. I think the VP's that both Obama and McCain pick will be really important this election, perhaps the most important in many, many years. You can bet a guy like Mitt Romney would help, after all McCain admitted he knows nothing about the economy. You can also bet that anyone who has good foreign policy credentials will be an automatic plus for Obama, since that's his greatest perceived weakness.
