Oh and fuck Feeder. Grant (their singer) was at the Pumpkins Wembley show and on the way out commented to me that it wasn't that great a performance if I recall.
He was right. As usual Billy lost the audience.

This from the Crwo soundtrack. I think the arrangement is very Pumpkins. It's still a cool song. Great voice.

Collective Soul have already been mentioned, but Our Lady Peace are the worst offenders.

I guess this is getting off topic, but I never knew there was another version of the Elastica track. I only ever knew the one that was on Beavis & Butthead, which was pretty funny. Side note this was my first concert! I met the band and they were all very nice... I kind of thought no one really remembered them anymore!

Fuck I hate that song. And this is coming from a guy who actually likes a lot of OLP.

I've always had a real sweet spot for this track:

Poppy as hell, but a damn good hook

Elastica seemed pretty cool to me when I was a kid but I picked up their CD a few years back and it has NOT aged gracefully.

The videos for some of those early 90's alternative rock songs are truly awful. The Simpson's parody was pretty spot on with the meaningless crap passed off as art, but then the videos practically parody themselves.

I never thought of Our Lady Peace as a Pumpkin ripoff, probably because of the guy's annoyingly distinctive vocals. But even Billy mentioned them as a band that was copying them!

Another Dolly song I heard back in the day. It's not a ripoff (not on the level of the other song I posted before at least) but I remember thinking the dynamics were quite Pumpkin-like, circa 92-93 with the acoustic break etc.

The annoying Muse and a riff that reminds me of "Jackboot" a bit.

the drummer hung himself a few years ago. Grant is about to bring out a solo album.
