nothing structural, just some phase issues i noticed in the audio. also i felt it was too noticeable when the drums would switch over from the if all goes wrong performance to the gibson amphitheatre one so i've been able to make the two drum tracks sound much more similar to each other and i don't think the difference is notable now.

Ironically (hey Atum!) As Rome Burns sounds the most like a sequel to Machina.

Imagine writing a song that fux as hard as ‘As Rome Burns’ and then not releasing it. He has squandered so much good material over the years and somehow always opts to release lesser songs instead.

dude, honestly.

the pile of excellent or potentially-excellent unreleased material that he has amassed at this point is astonishing.

i wont attempt a list because i'm sure we'd all disagree about what belongs on it, but i'd also bet that we'd agree on a fairly high percentage of what does. and it's a lot of songs.

sometimes i wonder if he's doing it on purpose so that his eventual posthumous collection of unreleased rarities is the greatest of all time.

I believe it when he says he gets bored quickly. So if material is written too far in advance of the recording sessions, he may not ******* it because he is more excited about other things. But in the end, that's worse for pretty much everyone including him who is so disappointed at his relative lack of success.

If I can make a request (shameless, I know): 99 Floors and the Jimmy versions of Otawa (Chris Isaak show) and Song for a Son (a 2008 live version).

ive ordered chris isaak hour dvds so i can do those ones but it will take a while for them to arrive. the live song for a son i just think is a bit boring compared to the studio version but i may do it at some point!
okay i lie i've already done a version of it but im not happy with how it sounds exactly. same with the version of the march hare i've done... i need to leave them sit for a while and come back to them.

Guys this is all absolutely abhorrent music and absolutely no eq moves or rebalancing can do anything to save the songwriting underneath.. just because Jimmy does a good ba dum duh gerupupup bam uhuhuh KOW does not make it a listenable song

It's not 1991-1996 era Smashing Pumpkins quality, but more in line with what I'd expect from a nostalgia band.

Like I'm hoping for latter-day Pearl Jam or Pixies quality. Some of this is probably in that range.
