Jesus I sucks
i could almost get into the whole historical christian thing, but the key or the notes or the guitars or whatever sound discordant throughout and it's fucking grating, especially with his voice
the glass house version is better, esp with the whole reborn section, but still not a great song |

Honestly, the Spun version is the best

And I would want to add, that regardless of production quality, Jesus, I/MSOTS was the best thing on the Zwan album. Shout out to Black Swan and El Sol as well.
Funny how that album has a lot of great songs on it, but for the first time in the history of a Corgan album, I found it really hard to listen beginning to end. I guess Machina was starting down that road (later album can be a bit tedious in a listen-through) but MSOTS was one I hardly ever listened to beginning to end. |

I'm not gonna bother, but the parody thread title for this is obvious to everyone, right?

The only song I can remember off of the entire album is "Of A Broken Heart."

And there's another song where they are all happily drumming down the street in the music video or something and each time I try to remember how it goes, "Rebellion (Lies)" by Arcade Fire plays in my head instead.

As far as the folk covers go, I preferred their live version of God's Gonna Set This World on Fire

I know MSOTS is polarizing but I still wish Zwan would have taken off. I really love that album aside from a couple tracks. It’s one of those albums I like to listen to in the summertime and always puts me in a great mood. Ironic that it sounds so happy when supposedly they all hated each other but I always wonder if that was smoke and mirrors and the real reason Bill destroyed the band and blamed everyone else was because his ego couldn’t handle the poor album sales. Anyway, it’s a shame. Yeah, Heartsong, Come With Me, El Sol, Settle Down, etc. we’re so fucking good.

same. it's a very spring album for me. JC sounds great, the guitars sound great, corgan sounds totally fine especially compared to now. some stupid songs but overall we'll kill for this if it was on atum

The main problem with zwan is that billy is the grossest bugger and he gets off by weaseling his squirrelly little voice as loud as possible into your eardrums
Crazy that he credited himself as “billy Burke” for msots even after clearly going out of his way to ensure that the whole album is produced in a way to make it clear that you are hearing a BILLY CORGAN PRODUCTION |

Same here, the sound of MSOTS still sounds somewhat "fresh" to me, it's uplifting, it's definitely an album that cheers me up. I enjoy listening to it once in a while.
The band could have been so much more, but ol crackpot Bill wanted quadruple platinum from his supposed "supergroup" and it didn't happen. Zwan was fucking good. |

While the vocals aren't as bad as they are now, they still edge toward being unlistenable after a while. I played MTOS for the first time in years the other day, on a drive, and I had to change it after about 5 or 6 songs. The vocal is just the same tone, in the same place on each track, no dynamics, no build of emotion, nothing. And way too loud.
This was the album that starts the frustration with Billy changing his vocals, although FutureEmbrace wasn't as bad. |

Lyrics are gonna sound ridiculous unless you consider the song a big metaphor of him wanting to bang Ms. Lenchantin only to discover the hard truth.
Music is great tho. And his vocal style at this point in time is pretty underrated imo, it has this kind of newfound confidence, that everything was possible once again and he was still riding the storm. |
