This clip is the first time I’ve ever heard the acoustic guitar at the beginning of the song

You hear glorious warmth and fuzz and beautiful saturated tape.

It's honestly renewed my interest in machina, which is one of my favorite albums.
It is weird how much more present the rhythm section is on this than, say, the CD. It’s not super dramatically different but it is different. You hear the drums and bass, not just have your speakers absolutely flattened by them. Nice thing I’ll come back to

Yeah it’s a really lively sounding mix. Everything jumps out more and it’s not as harsh as the CD version.

Yeah. To everyone. I found it on SS. There's also a cassette rip of the ava Adore single (sounds really good, nothing dramatic, just fuller sounds and of course any kind of delay sounds better on tape.) There's a rip of nevermind that sounds gorgeous.

Thank you internet music nerds for your hardwork.
I'm still looking for a MCIS cassette rip bc that, in my mind, sounded differently and more beautiful on tape. Especially the guitars on tonight.

Won't it depend on what cassette deck it's played on?

The vocal distortion was the right choice for that song - it gives it such a nostalgic/bittersweet feeling. Good job, 1999 Bill, I guess.

I remember the first recording we heard of AOI was from the bridge school benefit show I believe. Fan response to the song was really positive and I guess that’s why he added it.

Yep.

IotM
SIYL

Wound
AOI

God-tier Machina I trax

Add Vanity, Home, Speed Killz (HEAVY), and BSBT (Arising) and you have a perfect album.

They're mixing Let Me Give The World To You at the moment

Billy's gone off the idea to use crowd noise for that planned concert segment

Didn’t he record the “Before the rites of spring...” part of AOI by singing into the pickups of his guitar? Same with the “Black rooms are calling...” part of GATGC.

Or am I misremembering?

I still have my Gish and Siamese Dream cassettes. They weren't played much either as I used to make copies to listen to.

I never had MCIS on cassette though, I'd got into CD by that stage. What is the best method for ripping a cassette to digital? I still have a Yamaha cassette deck.

So do we think Billy will try to have the Machina II vinyl rips out there taken down once this thing's released?

looking at him on the last tour, he does seem kinda...frail. like he's straining to play certain parts. on insta you can tell he lost weight, but now i dunno if that's an intentional health thing or if he's dying or something

v depressing shit

cassettes are way better also and i'm upset i just have shitty digital copes of everything now

Unlike vinyl cassettes are a fundamentally inferior audio format
