Guitar in Obscured
Does anyone know what equipment was used to get the guitar tone in Obscured? Is that a steel guitar or is it a regular electric with some king of effects on it?
I'm referring to the echoey, electric guitar, not the acoustic stuff. Thanks! |

oh yeah I play with that setup routinely when I jam with my band 'The Arcade Fire". Maybe you've heard of them. We take a '72 strat and run it through a vintage Peavey kick-amp saddled with a '77 phaser modulator rigged in series with a shit-kickin' beltway overloop dubber. Then we run it all through a yamaha sr-71, and finally, in a bit of unorthodox guitar wizardry, we take the echo to unprecedented levels by playing with the max echo setting in a cave. I'm not gonna say this is EXACTLY how Corgan made the sound, all I know is that is sounds an awful lot like it the way we do it.

Conspiracy alert!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that stars would be visible like that in such close proximity to the Earth.

I have no idea if this is correct, but in middle school a science teacher told me that in space you would be able to see stars even in close proximity to another bright object, but a camera is incapable of capturing both the stars in the background and the object in the foreground.

prolly just one of bill's strats, possibly a tele [the center one in the chorus sounds les paul-ish, but i dunno]
there seems to be at least 3 or 4 electric tracks at times the bended notes have a 'steel guitar' type sound but i think it's prolly just bill bending notes on an electric w/ a lot of reverb i'd like to know what verb they used too actually. obscured has always been a fav of mine. |
