I could see how someone might say it's the "sell out" record in that it's more radio friendly alt. rock

But sell-out is a term that only matters when the album is bad, and I see it just as another musical style they were trying out

yeah i don't actually consider either of those sell-out records, in fact i think it woulda been kinda stupid if they hadn't made them. they were goin in a "poppier" direction for a while anyway, certainly in comparison to the early stuff at least

+ seems like it just kinda got them a whole new level of exposure without much if any loss of respect

Daniel Johnston - Continued Story
Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion

Both of them are very Beatles-esque despite being totally unrelated

2814 Atarashī Ni~Tsu no Tanjō

cassette reissue

Quote:
The distinction between aspiration and embodiment blurs into blank-horizoned, harmonic symbiosis on the second collaboration by 2814, 新しい*********の誕********* (Atarashī Ni~Tsu no Tanjō). Comprised of t e l e p a t h テレパシー*********力********* and Dream Catalogue proprietor, Hong Kong Express, the duo’s design is deliberate, a vision of vaporwave as sample-free, shadowed, and sprawling, less screwed muzak than pensive skyscraper ambience, a sea of misted neon glimmering far below. The album is laid out like a slowdive, arcing slowly through sirens, gauze, and bass into dissolved vistas of steam, mirrors, and metronomic mirage. The deeper it sinks the realer the dream. Few documents from the shifting systems of “vaporized wave” radiate such ultraviolet allure; 2814 channel the fantasy as vividly as anyone in today’s marbled metropolis hallucination scenes.

It's not really an album but I've listened to all of Madonna's 28 80's singles and i'm not even gay.

I'm not sure what it means. Sometimes you know you know you got to.
