it's dying in the dj community, which is the only thing keeping the pressing plants alive.

Serato and the CDJ have all but killed off vinyl atm. Record stores closing up world wide in response.

Too pricey to produce/distribute/etc

I haven't bought a CD in four years. it's been only vinyl and mp3s.

I really, really, really do not understand why anyone would buy an mp3.

The only reason I'd ever bought MP3s is because I got an iTunes gift card I didn't ask for, for my birthday. Otherwise, I'll only pay for vinyl and for CDs with "special edition" extras I can't otherwise download. Oh, and if it's directly from a relatively small-time artist who I really want to support.

So, uh, to somewhat contribute to the thread, I hope vinyl never dies. I'll always buy it.

to be fair to the one guy that everyone was bitching at, it's true. vinyl usually is a couple bucks cheaper than a cd. unless you're talking re-issues or big name acts. cassettes are where it's at, though. more bang for your buck.

not stores. web-labels. or at shows. like, actually, supporting bands and stuff.

vinyl only. no cd offered. what now?
