i think the seeds slipped them some acid and they just decided to film the video in some dude's basement.
i don't know if its the new badass outro or what, but i love the ending. i also love the way BC is srsly just wailing on the guitar in front of that black angel chick. and the tambourine man, he rules also. |

The hippies are awesome and are rightfully the stars of the video.

the lack of bill's heavy, overdubbed, poor consonant pronouncing vocals makes this the best tune the SP have released from this whole zeit thing... dig the lo fi production, sounds like the focus is being put back on the guitar. also liked the violins.. but of course, most of all, jimmy owns the tune.
silverfuck 2 indeed. |

and yes, the drumming rules. they made me jump when they first came in (i queued up the video and cranked it up)...and towards they end its gotta be the best SC drumming ever, leading into the new outro. the video aside, the studio version of the song rocks. different than the aol sessions, but still a quality performance with just as much intensity. i feel they've captured the energy of the song well. |

Don't get me wrong, I liked it. It was easily the best version of this song, but the thing is, the song got old after hearing it on 30 boots. I mean, it's cool, but I just wish Billy would start bringing more to the table, we know he's capable. Just look at the residency songs. Peace and Love was fucking incredible.

the bass is too low when the guitars cut out for the first time. the violin is, as i said, totally nonsensical. live versions are much better. but oh well. i just hope they didn't put a ton of effort or time into this. |

the video looks like something you would have seen on the beavis and butthead show. fish eye lens, old hippies, chicks in nurse outfits and black instruments.
better than recent sp vids. |

Damnit, Billy. Put Jeff and Ginger in there, not two hippies. And more focus on the hot nurses! The video would be so much better without the hippies...I don't think anyone in the MySpace crowd (besides the diehard SP fans) would watch the whole thing because of it.

This was a big step for SP... very good video, best since MCIS, though i've hated all their videos after 33 except tarantula. Anyways, here's why this works:
1) NOT PRETENTIOUS - SP are embarassing to be a fan of because of billy's attitude/ego/outlook. This was probably a concsious decision to let him look like a "cool dude", not an egomaniac. He's dressed cool, rocking out and he looks like he's having a good time. 2) It has some grit. This is the #1 thing SP has needed to make their comeback a non-joke. The drug-referencing, the basement setting, the seeds and the 8mm style. This is the opposite of the "thats the way" video 3) The nurses and angel give it a nice scene quality. No need to be a scenester, but i like the scene. Not a fan of this linda strawberry though, and to think what sasha grey actually gets paid to do is pretty horrid. Complaint: the AhAhAh part and the violin are missed opportunities for some cool psychadelic experimenting. Billy is like Brian Ferry, trying way too hard to sound his age. too bad his age sounds like crap. SOund my age! |
