Thumbs up Billy Corgan for the first time seems a little bit likeable

Bill Maher is a no bullshit comedian, and presses Billy to try to be a little bit honest without exaggerating or bullshitting too much

Billy also shares about his three sexual encounters with Michael Stipe of REM back in the 90s

Saw a clip of this earlier and appreciate you bringing the whole thing to my fingertips... laying around in a COVID isolation fog and this sort of content is gold right now. Thank you.

Actually, it's quite the opposite. It works because it suggests that's what the Republican senator meant by "work in the fields", calls into question republicans' stance on slavery, racism etc.. it's a clever joke.

Please remember, smart people aren't offended by jokes

Maher caught shit for that comment and apologized to his audience and Killer Mike in a subsequent episode. He messed up. Doesn't mean he a milquetoast or whatever the other comment was

remember: if you still find comedians funny it means you are old

don’t get me wrong I enjoyed my fair share of Comedy Central when I was young and impressionable. but my instagram feed makes me laugh far more than any comedian can on a daily basis nowadays. all of gen z has been completely desensitized by the post **** irony shit or whatever they are calling it

I think Bill Maher has lost it, to be honest. I used to watch his show all the time. But he clearly lives in a bubble and out of touch with everyday people. I watched the Russell Brand interview and there were moments where Bill was excruciatingly dull. He repeats the same stories. It becomes even more apparent on this podcast when he doesn't have a team of writers behind him.

Maher was too stoned by the end of the talk.

And when billy is starting to tell a story( which is made up most likely) i start laughing

Billy is certainly a master of embellishment when telling a story.

Used to love bill Maher but he’s turned into such a whiny old bitch as of late.

I liked the whole bit about bill sr. Smoking joints at the dinner table, 5 year old billy getting stoned over his mac and cheese watching the Nixon impeachment. His dad sounded like a lot of fun.

It is really unsettling to see Billy not dominating the conversation.
He comes across as both more normal and - once we escape his self-narrative - a lot less interesting than he thinks he is.

I definitely remember being turned off and confused by the Zeitgeist aesthetic. I mean, the album cover was OK, but the single covers, the flags, the reapers, Paris Hiltons... it was like Billy had some kind of political message but of course it was incoherent and most likely empty.
