Default Boredoms

i've read some interesting things about them, especially regarding their live show.

has anyone ever been lucky enough to see them? it seems they hardly ever visit the states. with two drummers and "choreographed" pieces, i'd imagine they'd be an amazing live act.

and i missed the opportunity to see them on their recent tour with lightning bolt

i was wondering to what extent they might choreograph their show

like is it seriously synchronized and strictly to the beat of the song, with the members of the band running and jumping around in and out of eachother

or do they just spontaneously dance as they play?

I hate to admit this but once I discovered Naked City I could never look at Patton the same again.

Did anyone get out to the Philadelphia show this year with Lightning Bolt? I was ready to drive out there, but earlier that week I had driven 3 and a half hours to a pAper chAse show only to have to turn around due to the band not being aware that it was an over 21 show (and my brother who was with me is under) and there were stories of major flooding in the area of the Boredoms/Lightning Bolt show, so I didn't want to risk a long drive and dissapointment

I hate when Patton works with Zorn. He always sounds like he's doing a really lame impression of Yamatsuka Eye.

Yep. The influence is all around, specially in Fantômas.
I enjoyed "Moonchild", released this year.

On the other hand, the latest collaborations between Zorn and Eye are as insane as the ones with Patton. Hemophiliac and NaniNani can be put under the same 'unclassifiable' genre.

I agree, I haven't given moonchild my full attention yet but I enjoy it more then the other Patton/Zorn projects. And the bit I listened to of Eye performing with Zorn as part of the 50th birthday concerts was kind of out there.

I just find it funny how much of Fantomas was totally stolen from Naked City. Hmmm Zorn started playing around with Cartoon music, guess what Fantomas records a cartoon album.

Actually, Zorn is into cartoon music for more than a decade. He was a production consultant of that Carl Stalling CD of WB cartoon themes (not to mention the cartoon music on his own records).

Fantômas is Mike's tribute to Naked City, although he never mentioned it, it just takes a few minutes for the listener to get it. Surprisingly, he does it pretty well IMHO, taking the avant-garde music from NC to a more universal audience. It's definitely his best work since Faith No More.

Yeah I know Zorns been intot he cartoonthing for awhile. Was jsut using that as an example of how Patton is kind of just following a template. Turn on a dime album, ambient album, live album, cartoon album.
