Default the gold mask

well this was an unexpected turn of events

this may be my favorite track off ATUM act 1

this thread won't age well, as I don't think this song has staying power

but upon 5 or 6 listens, it's not bad. like paul mccartney's "wonderful christmastime" meets bob dylan's "Born in time"

obviously the track sucks, but compared to the rest of the album this one is fairly palatable

my father's gay

I like this track. Reminds me of A Flock of Seagulls.

This version of the song sounds like it could have been Djali Zwan

Proof that, behind the inexplicable decisions he makes, there are good songs. When they did the Highland Park charity event, he played one of the CYR songs with Sierra on bass and Jimmy on drums. It sounded really punchy and energetic, unlike however the song in question sounded on the album. I wanna say it was "Wrath", but I cannot remember for sure. It struck me enough that I went back and listened to the CYR version and was even more bummed at how lifeless it sounded.

The studio version has some decent effects at the start of the chorus, but the drumbeat is horrendous and the ending lacklustre. It’s needs work.

Bill’s vocal delivery on both versions is really unpleasant - I dunno if that’s his voice now or it’s something deliberate he’s trying.

I will say this. Suit and floral shirt is the aesthetic Bill should roll with from here on out. No more facepaint and dresses.

Aye, that was what I was generally thinking. I hadn't heard this song in any version, and I agree it's a perfectly decent lil' tune. Just listened to the album version and it's... not bothering me the way the others I've heard have. I might not have felt that way if I'd heard the acoustic version first.

...Huh. So there might be some good songs in here, under the muck. Huh.

It's almost like BC is stuck in Neil Young's mid-80s period.

A few parts aside, I also heard hints of the old, softer voice - it's in there somewhere. He needs to bring it out.

There’s nothing wrong with the song, but how it’s performed in the clip and realised in the studio don’t do it justice.

Another difference between this and "classic" Corgan / Pumpkins... aside from the word salad and everything else... is the simple verse-bridge-chorus structure, which all sound very similar... there are no alternating sections breaking up the structure or tempo, which ultimately limits the longevity of the song. It's hooks are relatively instantaneous and there's nothing else to be discovered here to reward future listens.

It's still the best from ATUM imo.

I don't like this song, but I can't tell if it's because it's bad or if it's just because as soon as I saw the title, I was nonsensically hoping that it would be really dark and ominous track that made me think of the score to Elden Ring. When it was anything but that, I was disappointed.

I can't listen to these strum strum songs.

It sounds totally unremarkable.

I prefer this over the album version, but wish he could rush less and play a little more wtih dynamics. The lyrics are fine.
