NO DOUBT, CHICKS JOIN SUPER BOWL

NO DOUBT and the DIXIE CHICKS will join SHANIA TWAIN as performers at Super Bowl
XXXVII on January 26th in San Diego. No Doubt will play during the halftime show
while the Chicks will sing the national anthem before kick-off. "Anyone who
tells you there's no pressure to sing the national anthem live to one of the
biggest television audiences on the planet is not telling the truth," said the
CHICKS' EMILY ROBISON. "I'm a little nervous but we're very excited and honored
for the privilege."


BRITNEY LOVES JUSTIN

Though JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE took a shot at BRITNEY SPEARS in his new single ("Cry
Me a River") and video, both former Mouseketeers claim to love each other,
leading some to speculate at an impending reconciliation, according to the new
issue of "Us Weekly." "When we were together it was bliss, like something from a
damn fairy tale," Timberlake recently told Rolling Stone. "I really do still
love that girl." And Spears, in an exclusive interview with "Us Weekly," said,
"I'm very touched that he still loves me. There's a part of me that will always
love Justin too because he was my first love."


MOTTOLA LEAVES SONY

Sony Music Entertainment CEO TOMMY MOTTOLA has left the company to start his own
label. Mottola took the helm of Sony in 1988, and oversaw the development of
artists including MARIAH CAREY (his ex-wife), JENNIFER LOPEZ and numerous
others. "I have been thinking about taking up this new challenge for about a
year," Mottola said. "I am thrilled that I will continue my long-standing
relationship with Sony to create a company that I believe will become a
blueprint for the music business in the coming years."


ROBINSON SMOKES WITH HOOKAH

BLACK CROWES guitarist RICH ROBINSON has named his new band HOOKAH BROWN, and
plans to break in the ensemble with an eight-date tour to launch on January 21st
in Baltimore. The four-piece band, which formed after the Crowes went on hiatus
two years ago, *******s drummer BILL DOBROW, bassist FIONN O'LOCHLAINN and MOKE
singer JOHN HOGG. "I think towards the end it was just so fuckin' miserable,"
Robinson told Rolling Stone of the Crowes. "Now I can branch out and do things
we might not have done, more poppy things."

A white grand piano that once belonged to ELVIS PRESLEY was sold for $685,000
this week to the Blue Moon Group, which plans to place it on a promotional tour;
plans also call for the piano to be housed on a proposed rock & roll museum at
Disney World . . . AVRIL LAVIGNE kicks off her first major headlining tour on
January 12th in Washington, D.C. . . . TENACIOUS D make a guest appearance on
STYX's new album, "Cyclorama," due February 18th . . . RYAN ADAMS, SHIVAREE and

Florida.

MORCHEEBA will kick off a twelve-date tour in Washington, D.C., on January 21st
. . . A new book, "Spiels of a Minuteman," will collect the lyrics of former
MINUTEMEN bassist MIKE WATT; the book is due January 11th . . . JOE SATRIANI
will begin a nine-date tour on January 29th in Reno, Nevada . . . GALACTIC's
Freezestyle 2003 Winter Tour will launch on January 23rd at Tipitina's in New
Orleans and close March 3rd in the same place . . . KENNY CHESNEY will begin a
thirty-nine-date tour on January 16th in Tupelo, Mississippi . . . DJ SPOOKY has
lined up five dates with HEADHUNTERS drummer MIKE CLARK, starting January 15th
in Washington, D.C. . . . After numerous delays, the D.O.C.'s new album,
"Deuce," will finally be released on February 25th . . . Colombian duo
ATERCIOPELADOS will begin a six-date U.S. tour on February 19th in New York.
