Hi guys! Does any of you still have the pic of me with that Paul Hem poster on Toronto streets? I still play the Last Christmas Netphoria song in December - it warms up my heart. I hope all you survivors up to this day around here are OK!

22 years ago having a username that included "2000" was major achievement. Like you were a boss with that shit cause you anticipated millennial mania and beat everyone to internet. In 1998 zombie_zero2000 would have been major achievement.

I think that thread was on Forum 9, but I lost access to it as I got demoted from mod status.
I am OK. I don't understand world much anymore. I don't listen to The Smashing Pumpkins. We went to see Bob Dylan with our daughter so she can tell one day she'd seen the guy. She fell asleep 4-5 songs in. We went to see Guns'n'Roses, too. She liked them. They played for 32 songs, maybe close to 3 hours' long set. I was shocked and could not understand how come these guys that abused so many substances and who must be close to their 60s, can last so long and overall seem to be in a better physical condition than I am. I am lost about new music, artists - don't know, follow anything. I hope Portishead will still release some new music one day. I think Pakula liked Portishead, too. I would be interested in some rappers, hip-hop music tackling the mundane, everyday life of mid-life dad with kids. Any recommendations?

How are you, Joeri? Do you still play bass? How is MALLOW doing? Have you ever met with xtina, again? I still remember the picture of you sitting in some outside cafe in Amsterdam, you were so cute there.

Question

here's a piece of advice I got from Travis Meeks regarding what to do with my money in 2006:

If not, I would put that money into a 3 year CD. I guess the Canadian version is a GIC (guarented investment certificate)? The US stock market has done nothing in the past couple of years and even the foreign markets (which I got into heavily this year) haven't been doing much. I've made close to nothing in the past 6 months whereas I could have made a no risk 5% gain with a CD. They guarentee a cetain percent APY gain and with federal rates become very high it's a great time to get into cds. The only downfall is that your money is unattainable for that amount of time although I believe there are ways around it.

Yep, I would do a CD. In fact I am thinking about doing it myself. Oh, and you would get taxed on your gains at the end.

But I will get more into this later....I'm beat from work
I didn't follow his advice.

pretty sure it was on the gen board too!

no one understands the world or likes the pumpkins anymore! how old is your kid now, around 6?

I don't know shit about hiphop but I really like kendrick lamar. can't say he raps about that subject though.

I'm good! moved to Amsterdam in 2011, still living there. Mallow has been long dead and buried, the band that I was in after that, Boutros Bubba which I recall you didn't really like has been dead for a while too. I play in two bands now, maybe you like Apneu - https://apneu.bandcamp.com

And YES I actually did meet Xtina again! Went to Canada and the US for the first time in 2018 and met Xtina in Toronto. She hadn't aged a day even though it must have been 13 years later. I also met mirror_untrue, pale_princess and alisonmonster there whom I think you have met too?

where do you live now?

Mallow > Boutros Bubba - Boutros Bubba were technically maybe superior, but MALLOW had that fresh naivete and a sense of wonder about things.

I have two kids - 10,6.

That's awesome you have met again with her and the others, too!! You should turn it into a tradition. Yes, Toronto girls were always great and very nice to everyone. We did the Paul Hem thing with Nicky, she was the one who took the pictures. I would be very curious to know what is Alison doing. I lost touch with everyone except sleeper. We were supposed to meet last summer but then COVID came. I live in Estonia. I would be even tempted to give you my phone number (if you are ever around), but then I remembered how once you called my mom .

2006, 2007? there should be some 'truth or dare' thread in Forum 9 (that one might be easier to sieve through) and it came from that.

Talk to her? I think you made some sounds...

Sleeper - I am afraid he would never talk to me again if he would have learned I even only mentioned his name here.

I can get around here. I would not call myself fluent, though.
