it's been a while since I gave any of those aforementioned follow-up albums a chance, I kind of remember Mr Nogatco being decent

but really, if nothing else, at least check out Automator's "A Much Better Tomorrow"

yeah things got real bad after the early 2000s breakup, though there were some great live shows during that 2010-ish reunion period

hell, kinda sounds familiar doesn't it!

i actually just got finished reading Weiland's memoir the other day, and holy shit did that dude have some excruciatingly sad things happen to him in between the rockstar debcales. closing the book after reading his relatively positive final words knowing what his fate would ultimately lead to just a few years the line made my eyes water a bit, tbh

I've been meaning to read this, I may have to accelerate that now. Think fuzzy would lend me the copy he stole from the public library?

as 4 me

the Caustic Window (aka Aphex Twin) LP. to be honest, I was a little disappointed. it's certainly not bad, but for an RDJ product allegedly from the mid-90s/Richard D James Album era, it's a bit less "drill & bass" and much more straight-ahead techno. still a pretty good listen tho

I haven't heard a Morcheeba album since like the mid-2000s (which apparently this record is from. but I think I only heard Big Calm) & thought this one might be worth it since, well, I thought it had a cool cover. unfortunately the music didn't quite live up, not terrible but certainly not something I'm rushing back to listen to anytime soon. way more poppy than trip-hoppy, & i don't hate pop but I sure didn't love this

& most recently, one more spin of

still love it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like the new Beck, but it's not one of his more exciting records. Kind of synthy, retro and chill. I've listened to it off and on since release and I think I've settled on it being a mid-tier Beck album for me.

one of the singles from the new Beck got played on one of the local stations I actually listen to here every once in a while & it was pretty good. i'm long past expecting him to jump back into Odelay mode anytime soon like he did on Guero & whatnot, but even so he is at least able to create interesting stuff well outside those borders
