Not to make David's passing all about Billy, but I got into both his films and the Pumpkins around the same time, 2008/2009. So when this interview came out, plus David's subsequent comments about Billy, it felt like my two worlds were colliding in the best possible way.

“BILLY CORGAN IS A MAGICAL MUSICIAN – A SINGER/SONGWRITER WITH HIS OWN UNIQUE VOICE AND WAY …… A DEEP HONEST COOLNESS EMERGES EVERY TIME AND HIS MUSIC HAS BIG LASTING POWER ….. HE'S GREAT.” – DAVID LYNCH

BILLY CORGAN IS A MAGICAL MUSICIAN, COOP — A SINGER/SONGWRITER WITH HIS OWN UNIQUE VOICE AND WAY. BALD FELLA, TALL AS THE SKY. BIRTHMARKS LIKE A GUERNSEY, SET A' TEETH LIKE A NEGLECTED FENCE. A DEEP HONEST COOLNESS EMERGES EVERY TIME AND HIS MUSIC HAS BIG LASTING POWER, COOP. HE'S GREAT.

This was a bummer but not a shock -- I'd read he was pretty much housebound and hooked to an oxygen tank. I'd started rewatching Twin Peaks from the beginning about a month ago and then just stopped. I think I'll start back up. A very unique guy.

DL wouldn't want us to be sad so I'm trying with mixed results. This guy was the fucking best, a true genius and a visionary, and just a good person.

yes and his message had that Lynchian optimism despite being housebound and I couldn't help but think he was in a bad way

It's inpossible to overstate the impact this man had on so many. It might be a cliché, but the world's a shittier place without him. It was NIN and SP via the Lost Highway soundtrack that first really got me into his works so long ago. I saw some Twin Peaks as a kid but didn't retain much from it. Revisiting it was one of the most rewarding experiences ever.

And The Return. Just...my god.
