my GOD that solo and that drum fill

why does it start with a field recording of a truck backing up

reminds me a lot of tarantula

why does every new release have the exact same cold digital feel to it

Oh yeah. I'm a month ahead. OK, so 7 weeks to go. We'll probably have the whole thing by then.

Not sure why my phone changed that lol

By the way, is there anywhere I can upload the songs into a playlist every week? I've tried YouTube but even a private playlist here blocked by Orchard music.

I immediately pegged this as an homage to one of the best to ever do it

Belly sayin in the podcast that if you don't like 10 songs out of the 33 you are not a true fan.....lol...... Long time ago i thought you are the man, but now i realized that you wanna pull me into ufos, alienation, wrasslin and tea.....
Well, 3 tracks out.....besides heard another cheesy synthy song( moss)... And not one is getting me, although there was an improvement..

How can i get into that sad machine group....?

Can someone let me know if the song contains the following so I can decide if I should listen:
- a coherent melody
- a chorus
- some dynamic changes

I think it has the best verses of any song in a long while. I think it's a little stronger than any Oceania track, but can understand the comparison. The vocals sound pleasant.

Or least say when in the podcast Atum and Butterfly Suite are. I don’t have time to listen to the whole thing to find it. Good in Goodbye is at 23 minutes.

i thought that was a good point - it's a 33 song record, you can surely find a 10 song record YOU like in it

Me too. If there's a solid block of songs of this quality, this album will be a success.

Yes, yes, not really imo

I don't have the vocabulary to describe it, but I feel like Billy's been doing this with a lot of choruses on the past few records: it feels like it ought to be one of those big choruses, a big dynamic shift, and he might have some synths come in or something, but it just falls flat and feels muted. It feels to me like he wrote a stadium rocker and then, in the studio, got cold feet and decided not to record it that way.

On a first listen, this is definitely the most promising track to me, but I was pretty disappointed to hear him doing that same bogshite

Edit: I will say, this is my favorite song title of his in quite a while

I still think "With Sympathy" is the best thing on the last couple of albums but this is actually pretty good.

There are snippets of actual melody, the drums are cold but at least one can tell it's Jimmy playing for once.

Are there dynamic changes? I'd actually say yeah - not in a soft/hard or fast/slow way, more like a start/stop and there's a false ending.

I think the Oceania comments are pretty accurate. It's a rip off the Spotify podcast so the quality is shite.

That's probably the most reasonable expectation he's had in years.

Because that's how it was recorded. It's so obvious that everything was recorded in different studios - drums, guitars, and vocals.

There's no feel of a band in a room, or even some kind of warmth within the tones which suggest a room ambience. Even Siamese Dream had that; you could tell it was recorded in a room with microphones and amps, with that crazy feedback and the ping of the snare drum cutting through the mix.

These guitars were probably DI-ed into amp modelling software and recorded straight to digital. Not a microphone or room in sight. The synths don't really help either. Drums were recorded in a different studio, we know that. It's a facsimile of a band playing, rather than a band. And there was virtually no attempt made to hide that.

I agree its good, but that part when the song just sort of stops screams out "we couldn't think of anything to put here." I am guessing that BC had written some part but in a moment of clarity realized that the middle 8 ruined the song so they just went with some slow drumming. Bad bridges and middle 8s ruined MTAE.
