Because this is what Jack White records on. http://www.riddleofthesphinx.com/rel...ape%20Recorder It is both charming and a source of frustration. I wish Jack White would produce a BC album of some sort. His philosophy on recording mixed with Billy's studio prefectionism would probably result in the perfect amount of tweaking. |

meg says that her basic drumming is her strength in interviews.
She catches sooo much unnessesary flack for her drumming. I don't think the white stripes would sound as good with another drummer. They do the stomp breakdowns and stuff, the simple beats more often then not compliment the riffs (see: every white stripes single) |

Her drumming is perfect, she's one of my favorite drummers of all time.
I mean Ringo is a horrible drummer supposedly but do you really want someone else drumming on Hard Day's Night? No, no you don't. |

Yea but Rindo isn't really a horrible drummer, hes quite good and versatile.
Meg White is shit. The sad thing is she catches all the shit for being talentless when really Jack White is barely a step above her in the talent department. |

Has anyone listened to the first song on their debut, um...
Jimmy The Exploder? The guitars in that song sound EXACTLY like the guitar riffs in Icky Thump. |

Yea well ths is Mark, not Stacy, and I'm 500 fucking times better than Jack White and I have been since I was 14 years old and playing guitar for 2 years. He is a fucking hack. He sings like shit to boot and plays even more sloppy live. Not to mention he doesn't do much justice to the many blues riffs he rips off, he could at least try and expand and take the music somewhere else besides where it has already been. Also any of his lead guitar work would be even more horrid without his whammy pedal and thick distortion. The White Strips are a gimic and its pathetic that people eat it up.

Jesus christ dude, read and comprehend before posting ok? I was talking about Jack White as well in that comment. But yes, you're right. Its far from just technical ability that makes a good musician. I do enjoy a lot of very simple and easy to play music and I've stated that time and time again here when people try and act like I only think people like Steve Vai or Satriani are good guitar players. David Gilmour is one of my favorite guitar players and he can't "shred" at all. I could go on and on with names of musicians I think are excellent while they still aren't the most technically proficient. Jack White is just really fucking bad, has piss poor taste, isn't very creative and doesn't do much besides recycle stuff he has heard before for indie kids that must have never heard real good blues music before. |

Popularity means shit when it comes to music. I would be willing to say that more popular bands are shit than are good really. I would probably chalk that up to the fact that the majority of people are just fucking idiots in general so of course they are going to be idiots when it comes to music too.
People like you for instance? People will eat up generic music and pass on so much good creative music that it sickens me and its been that way for a long long time. Last edited by KrazeeStacee : 06-23-2007 at 02:58 PM. |

but it sounds like your problem with them is that you think their talent level isn't...you know up to the level of their popularity. like it's disproportionate.
or am i misreading |

Their talent level isn't on par with the amount of credit they are given as musicians. Popularity is different. Lots of pop stars are popular and still given very little credit as being a good musician. People actually talk like Jack White is a good musician. If you want to enjoy their music, fine with me. Just don't try and act like its not poorly played and sang recycled blues songs packaged in a nice little trendy gimic.

I don't really get what the gimmick is. I mean if you mean the way they dress and stuff, there's lots of bands that have a certain way of dressing.
And it's not really their fault what level of credit they're given, that's other people's doing, not theirs. |
