i saw the open taping-ness of zwan as an easy way for corgan to get a buzz out about his post-SP musical ambitions. it cost him nothing to allow taping at the shows. recordings spread. people listened. people went to the shows, etc.

the later randomness of the taping policy and the non-taping of the open mic nights and such just shows that the allowing of taping outlived its usefulness. if a band wants there to be open taping and all that jazz, it's something that can be facilitated and a lot of bands make sure that their fans can tape, have taper sections, etc. it's probably easier than getting all those custom made man-dresses.

i couldn't care less about the hideout shows. the hoarding drama is, however, funny.

and why woudln't you expect the overprotective/strongarm-y stuff. it's about control. we are talking about billy corgan, right? since when does he not care about having control over... anything?
he knew that the zwan shows would be taped early on. why not take advantage of that and try to benefit from it rather than trying to fight it. it wouldn't surprise me if at some point SP stopped allowing taping. it wouldn't matter to me. i already came to the realization that i wouldn't even go see SP again, even if for free, let alone waste tape on them.

I'm LoL'ing at the rat bastard's post at HU. Here's to hoping Corgan throws him out of the archive project and he see no more point to life.

idk, it kind of sucks that monte leaked these without his permission, not that i don't appreciate what he did.

on the other hand, why horde things like this? it's been 9 years since the metro show and it's still sitting in a pile of tapes in someones basement and we probably wont get to hear it for either another decade or another year. i guess i just don't get the point in taping something and not sharing it. i understand it is the tapers prerogative but it just seems selfish to me

(machina acoustic demos, anyone?).. monte probably just weaseled his way to get those shows. surprisingly, there is one show missing. plain and simple, it’s 7 yr old audience recordings of about 5 songs a night, and 2-3 songs that are relevent. and tomorrow you’ll be over it, and demand the next thing.

i took the thread off of the o-board, because monte doesn’t have my permission to post my recordings. (nor does anyone else for that matter).

have a great day!
I'd really like to see him prove that they're HIS recordings anyways... talk about delusional ownership.
what an oblivious douche.

for all my attempts to like the O-board, they just jeep putting their foots in their mouths.
it's discouraging.

I think its time we stop recognizing them as a smashing pumpkins community, in any form.

I also strongly advise against people clicking on any links to that site.

Personally I just pray most of those guys never meet a girl and start reproducing. there still may be hope for the world. but you know, how can that ever happen when all they ever do circle jerk on billy corgan's reputation. they are tr00 winners.
guy from the zomb posted this on sp.com, about netphoria

where'?

someone needs to report him for hating. and then he should be banned,

it really gets under my skin that people are lame enough to try and stop things that are 'out' from being shared.
too late mother fucker.

it's not even worth mentioning that the guys at zomb already deleted my attempts at sharing this.
I've been listening to it all day and it really really is worth the listen.
"spread the love" really is the best line to use. it's too bad they're just haters.

it was not in relation to the hideout recordings though. it was about the (now deleted) thread on here about the recent death of an sp.com member.

this was monty's revenge for frank's newsletters without any real news, mp3s, etc.
maybe frank will pull the plug on the archive project now.

how do you think billy feels about this leak? if they didn't allow taping, it must be that they'd rather not have recordings out there, no?

these will keep getting shared on the HUB.

that zomb hater guy again:
Quote:
no we aren't allowing those to be shared, just like they will not be on the LMA. its a matter of respect for the taper, who deserves it.
since when are tapers given president over the artists they are taping?
don't they have any humility? they're in the wrong business if they want to make it about themselves.
oh yeah, everyone kiss ass to frank because he's doing the archive project.
wtf is wrong with the community.
I'm amused by the irony when people hate netphoria.
they have the hate, we have the music.

who is this "taper in toronto who everyone knows!"?

a few years back I remember frank chiming in that he wasn't sharing them because they weren't any good and that he didn't know where he had them.

can someone help me find that post? (here on netphoria)

I bet the people who are denying others the right to d/l haven't deleted them from their own collections.

Personally I don't care about this - I just want an end to hoarding culture in general.

To Monte: How dare you upload unique shows of a band that has been defunct for more than 5 years? You should have kept these hoarded for all of eternity!!! (\sarcasm) Thanks buddy!

PS, fuck off Hypocaust.
