Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s former personal attorney, surrendered to Georgia authorities on Wednesday after he was indicted last week for his role in an alleged conspiracy to undo Joe Biden’s win in the state.

Giuliani’s attorneys agreed to a $150,000 bond with the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, the second-highest in the case after Trump himself.

The former New York City mayor is facing 13 charges from the office of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, including violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, conspiracy to commit forgery in the first degree, and conspiracy to commit false statements and writings. Nineteen people are charged in the case, among them the former president.

Governments are so complex with so many independent departments and offices with their own mandates, SOPs, and chains of command that what looks like "Deep State interference and conspiracy" is often just different offices with overlapping purviews not knowing what the fuck the other offices are doing and tripping over each other while all trying to argue that they're the most important and deserve more funding.

Largest climate bill ever passed. Paid sick leave for unionized rail workers. Lots of student debt forgiven. Fighting inflation while avoiding a recession that everyone thought was imminent. Medicare can finally negotiate the prices of some drugs with Big Pharma. First major gun legislation in 30 years.

He's been mixed in immigration, keeping some Trump-era policies while reversing others. Fighting to not have to compensate families who suffered damages due to the separation policies and preventing asylum seekers from being able to apply if they cross illegally, but on the other hand also fighting the buttmad red states who think he's too lenient on immigration.

So, like any other U.S. president, he still does shitty things. But all things considered, I don't get why he has this reputation as this ineffectual milquetoast neolib stooge when he's been the most progressive Democratic president since LBJ or Carter and has won a lot of policy issues, even during the beginning of his term when Republicans controlled the other arms of government. Biden has already done more for left-leaning politics than Obama or Clinton managed to, who brought the Democratic party more to the right.
