I'm giving it a 3 on my first listen. I would say it could certainly grow on me and become a 4. I dislike most of the synth stuff, but I guess it helps Oceania fit in with TGBK, but for the most part I do like the way the album sounds. I really like that it sounds like it fits together without the songs sounding too much the same.
I look forward to getting to know it more and finding what my favorite parts, which songs are the strongest. I hope I have some favorite parts.... |

It's not as good as the nutbusters on Oboard think. It is good, though. It can be samey, but it sounds honest in a way Cbag hasn't since 2005.

The only reason so many people are voting 4 is because everything since Zeitgeist has been a firm 2 or 3 at best.

this is pretty good. 4/5. i think the best positive change is the attitude adjustment since zeitgeist. the vox are still bad but the songs are of a better spirit/vibe/mood/whatever. it's not so cloyingly/contrived and negative, political, whatever, it's an album of happyish songs written by a sad, lost man with awesome, watery, drippy, colorful production. love the final fantasy-esque synths

3/5 in my opinion. Decent album marred by some songs being too repetitive. The title track is a disjointed bundle of ideas. The Celestials is easily the standout here
