i checked allmusic and amazon, it came out january 18th of 2000. and i relate all those songs to that cd, so i dont really care if its a collection or not, and i dont really feel like getting finicky about it. when people are asked their favorite albums they usually ******* EPs and rarity compilations that have standout tracks.

but you can consider the list my 19 favorite albums of the decade and the collection of songs under a title that can be questioned for its validity for being placed in a best albums thread because its a collection of singles.

and im pretty sure mistle is just joking or is just stupid.

ok then

THE BEATLES

i might just have a differing opinion when it comes to apc, who i seriously prefer over tool. i loved both their albums before the emotive covers album(which shouldnt be classified as an album at all geez its covers geez).

enjoying a perfect circle makes more sense than calling machina better than radiohead's entire discography.

i really don't feel qualified to do this. i grew up with this decade. i listened to shit in 2002 and i never really caught up. i'll continue to make best-of-lists of single years though and my 2010's list will blow all of yours away

You're absolutely right. Because when I said 75%, I actually meant 105%; the extra 5% of course to encompass bands not yet listed.

I've got class in a few minutes, but some of my picks:

Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf
Queens of the Stone Age - Lullabies to Paralyze
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By the Way
A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms
Tool - Lateralus
Neil Young - Prairie Wind
Tom Waits - Alice
The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers

I honestly can't think of that much more. This has been a pretty shitty 7 years of music IMO. I'm a big fan of the blues, and it seems like year after year music drifts further and further away. The Raconteurs album was promising, but there's something about it that makes me hesitate to call it awesome.

The fact that it's awful, overproduced and a terrible concept with shitty songs on it is a big reason why it sucks. I mean what is the possible defense that it does not actually suck?

The concept part of it is the most embarassing part, with the whole phony band, a la David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust, the machines of god. Only Billy was into it, and he still went through with wearing the costumes even though no one else wanted anything to do with it. He should have abandoned the concept album idea and released the best songs from the session, but since that was impossible since they were all terrible, he committed to Glass hearing God through the radio or whatever the fuck and then had a contest about the Machina Mystary.

It was really pathetic that this failed concept album has no good songs to come from it unless you want to be really generous and include Speed Kills, but still. I mean Pete Townshend also had a failed concept album that he had sense enough after having a nervous breakdown to drop. He still got some of the greatest Who songs out of it; Behind Blue Eyes, We Won't Get Fooled Again, Baba O'Riley aka Teenage Wasteland to name a few. The Pumpkins got out their worst songs ever with that album. Machina was a total fucking failure from beginning to end and is quite possibly one of the worst albums ever made by a respectable rock band.

God fuck you and your corny ass avatar you butt fucking stump of a person.
