Well it certainly upset a lot of people. The worst kind. The satanic conspiracy theories / christian hand wringing have been amusing.

Personally it's incredibly dull. Trans/Drag provocations like this haven't been edgy or innovative for decades, and it just feels like a pretty obvious and tired cliche at this point. I suppose it was good for showing some trans solidarity.

That was not a "Last Supper" display. It was a depiction of bacchanalia.

There were multiple references to pre Christian gods and traditions in the opening ceremony. The Olympics after all, began half a millenia before Christianity to honor and venerate Zeus. The hooded figure at the end of the ceremony on the horse was a depiction of Sequana the goddess of the river Seine from the Gallo-Roman religion

Trans people are not "drag"

How do you know anybody on that stage was trans? Trans and drag are two different things. One is a gender identity, the other is a type of performance.

I usually end up watching a lot of the Olympics stuff, summer and winter, but I haven't had the same desire yet this year. I love it when they run a long "this person came from extreme adversity or watched their sibling die attempting the same thing they're about to attempt or something" story and then you get to cheer them on and they almost always win. That's some good clean feel-good fun right there.

I told myself I'd watch a lot of the Olympics this year, like when I was a kid, but I haven't. I saw Britain's women win the rowing yesterday, and on the weekend I caught some of the swimming and rugby 7s but that's about it. I usually enjoy the athletics, so hopefully some of those events will catch my attention.
