Great night. Here are some thoughts:

Briefly about Weezer, a band I've never been a big fan of: the show was quite fun. They seemed happy with the crowd's reaction.

About the Pumpkins:
I've never seen the band so relaxed before. I've always liked Jeff, but I have to admit that Kiki was a great choice: she has a strong stage presence, even though she's still a bit reserved. I was surprised by the number of guitar solos and the spotlight she received in some songs. She interacted a lot with the audience, encouraging them to clap, etc. Even Jack is more relaxed now. He used to stay more in the background, but now he often takes center stage.

James and Billy seem genuinely like friends. It was very funny to see James sneakily walking near Billy, who turned around and was startled by James right in his face saying "hello!"

Billy was particularly happy when his children came on stage, and AJ had a miniature guitar to play "Beguiled" with him. They returned to the stage to sing "Happy Birthday" to Jimmy.

About the music:

Some things still irritate me. For example, "Spellbinding" was quite fun live, but that backtrack is completely unnecessary and makes it sound like karaoke. The same goes for the violins in "Disarm": it would be better to do it completely acoustic, or with an e-bow like they did in the 2010 tour (?).

I really like "Springtimes," but it didn't sound very good live, mostly because it doesn't need Jimmy's drums. Once again, if it were acoustic, it would be better.

"Gossamer," "Jellybelly," "Zoo Station," and "Mayo" were highlights! I thought it was strange to close with "Zero," but it seems I was wrong, and the song is more popular than I believed! Everyone sang along, moshed, jumped, and left on a high note.

bands seem to get addicted to backing tracks and sounding 'clean' and sterile every night. why why why. who does that sound better to? we're the one's listening right? what standard are you chasing and why does it apply at a smashing pumpkins gig when you have the venue and crowd to yourselves?

When is this new single supposed to come out?

ATUM sucks and haven't listened to it since it first came out a year ago.

I'm curious to hear the new "rock" stuff.. since they played Gossamer.. maybe there's finally a chance at a studio version? That's the one I was waiting for

Fact is the band wants to compete at the super professional level, and their setup is standard protocol in the business now. Lots of bands do it. Kempers, iso cabs, all of that stuff.

I’ve also heard Jimmy say he prefers it, no stage bleed meaning he gets a better drum sound, easier to balance the sound, noise, etc. they wanna keep going so they probably want to keep their hearing as healthy as possible. Loud amps are bad for the ears, and with the volume levels they used to play at, I’m sure they’ve lost some significant hearing already.

rock and roll is all about standard protocol and being super professional. i can't believe they're just letting blink 182 shoot these wide open looks from 3, they gotta get better in the post

just because it's standard protocol doesn't mean it doesn't suck. and they all wear in ears anyway to hear the guitars in the first place

Yeah, a good part of the public was quite young and they were having fun.

I've to add that the 3 guitars didn't work on Panopticon, it was messy and muddy. Kiki left the stage for Tonight Tonight, but then Katie played an acoustic guitar with them. Katie btw is mostly doing only BV this time. Billy's second mic went missing and he had to come running from backstage to start a song (I can't remember which one).

I’m just saying why I think they do it this way.

And an in ear where you can balance levels on your own is very, very different from having a 4x12 cabinet blast a 100 watt amp into your ears. Because it’s right on the stage with you. I saw them many times, and they used to be REALLY fucking loud. Zeitgeist was probably the loudest tour I saw them on. I fucking loved it, and I miss it, but I get why they’d want to do it the way they’re currently doing it.

Admission price was worth it solely for the performance of Mayonaise.

It really took me by surprise. The amount of moshing was huge, totally different to the last 15 years or whatever.

Blink does the same thing. No amps on stage, direct with Kempers. A level broadway timed to the minute. It’s pretty much industry standard now.

They seem to be enjoying the new songs too. It was more the old farts that were worried they wouldn't play the HiiiTz.

Doomsday Clock is such a jam live. You hear it live then are like "oh, gross" when you hear the flaccid studio version

Bill cant sing. We know that.
And all those trolls hyping these first shows, saying the best since 2008.
Bill avoids higher parts like on disarm or tonight.
Crowd surfing??? Hahahhah...i have seen that in 1995, but havent seen any surfing in the last 10 years.

Reddit sp femdom is taking over netpho.
Some hardcore reddit fans want us to believe that this is the shit.
Cmon, i have been to 6 Sp gigs...and bill always skipped special parts.

Dont talk shit here

You're not going to see 60 year old Eddie Vedder swinging from the rafters, but you're going to see 60 year old Billy Corgan dancing in the moonlight.

I'm not really sure what kind of expectations fans should have. It's 30 years since their prime.

It was the same with G.L.O.W. when I saw it live in 2019.
I think Billy should consider recording live to keep things a bit more raw instead of destroying the music in the mixing and production.
