Yeah, opening Zuzu's 2.0 during a pandemic seems pretty insane. People are hunkering-down just trying to survive these chaotic times -they're not thinking about esoteric teas and toasted sandwiches. Maybe Billy signed the lease pre-covid and has to make do with the situation.

The shop is huge! It's more like a big restaurant. The possibility of having that many people in one place -and having live music again- isn't even on the horizon at this point until a vaccine comes out.

It’s a relatively low-cost business venture that yields some potential for profit and also serves as a way to network and establish friendly relations with the local community and pass the time between tours and albums.

Giving Billy’s level of bloodless business savvy (remember his texts with D’Arcy where he was complaining about all the money he’s lost?), I don’t feel bad for him. I doubt he gives half a shit about ZuZu’s beyond what it offers him on the back end in terms of the bottom line.

Like, I'm not saying he's running his tea shop as a charity. But plenty of people pursue certain careers or business ventures because they legitimately enjoy them, but wouldn't still pursue them if they didn't make any money from them because they are not going to pour thousands of their own dollars into something just as a hobby.

Like, somebody who becomes a guitar teacher usually does so because she genuinely likes playing guitar and teaching it to people, but that doesn't mean she's going to come over to your house and teach you for free if you can't pay just because she enjoys it. Likewise, the fact that Corgan obviously wants to profit from his tea shop doesn't mean he secretly gives no shits about tea.
