I don't know much about flags I'll be honest. But this is a burgeoning interest to me. A community that is ok on Reddit is r/vexillology. There's a lot of creative people on there too

Libya's old flag was a green flag. Green is connected to Islam because it represents Mohammed. When I was buying my favorite rug ever from an old lady in town she also showed me a rug with lots of green and orange. I said no thanks because it's a prayer rug and it would be disrespectful to walk on it. I don't wear shoes in the house but I can't keep my mom from doing it. Also not a practicer of Islam

it's relatively new. the original 1800s flag was mostly blue. That's where the blue backround comes from . The Red bit is La Grande Vitesse, which is our city's Calder sculpture. Since the 80s the most common way here to refer to the city is 'Calder City." the wavy patch through the circle is our river. We sometimes call this the River city, like 500 other cities in north america. Lately, though, you hear "Beer City," which has become a big marketing campaign.
