I'm paying enough for my own healthcare now. A nationalized plan would mean that now I'm also paying for everyone else and my quality of care would go into the toilet

Of course. This guy probably only remembers Bush and a little bit on Clinton though so we can't exactly expect him to understand the political system

Yes, I'm waiting for the Democrats to start trying to legalize abortion

BlueStar - you say "if" - but don't Republicans traditionally go with the establishment candidate though? It really seems like McCain is going to emerge as just that. Support is increasing.

Also, I realize there's a game to be played, believe me I do. But when McCain changed his mind about how to deal with tax breaks, for example, I don't really think he was playing a game. More like showing his true colors because the political environment at the time made it easier for him to do so. I'd love to think all of the crazy stuff he's done is just part of the game, but I honestly don't trust him.

Here's some news for you: John McCain ran for president in 2000, and he didn't win. And despite what people seem to think, its not because Karl Rove was pulling off dirty tricks and spreading rumors about McCain having a black baby or whatever it was. Its because republicans saw the various flaws in his "straight talk" bullshit and questioned his motives. Meanwhile, most Democrats have been sucking the guy's dick for 6 years talking about how McCain's such a moderate republican voice and how great it'd be if he'd run. Most people could have told you back in 2000 that McCain was a opportunistic hack. It shouldn't be news now.

It's still too early to say which Repub will be the establishment candidate. At this point in time, the only other Repubs to throw their hats in the ring are Hunter, Romney, and Huckabee. So much still remains to be seen. But yeah, McCain is certainly making all the right moves to set himself up as the establishment candidate.

no, it's because the "base" religious right saw mccain as too much of a moderate on their hardline issues and saw Bush as "one of t****

That's probably true as well. But I still think distrust of McCain ran more broadly than that. I'm far from being a member of the religious right, and I've never liked the guy.

abortion should not be illegal
when you make it illegal you have back alley abortions, homicide, and deprived children who would be better off if they werent born at all
it creates more crime
if its against your religious beliefs dont have an abortion
and yes people who come from very poor families, or teenage pregnancy sometimes become movie stars or millionaires BUT this is a very rare occasion, so rare that if you didnt watch television you would never think it possible

i don't know i think you should leave he/she alone. she/he is my little proto-commie friend.

He/She reminds me a bit of myself when I was that age.
