Agree with the comments above about the new music not having the same effect any more, not to say I don't like it it's just my tastes have moved on. The only thing I can equate it to is it's like following a team.
I just listened to these again recently. One of the most endearing things to me about these albums is that they sound authentic and sincere. Those qualities have been lacking or very uneven for a long while.

There are many songs you could pass as 33 B-Sides if you don't over analyze the lyrics or vocals.

Edit: I had added both albums to the playlist and was mostly through Ogilala when I posted this. I stand by my assessment for that album. Cotillions is an odd bird. The bluegrass songs don't sound too forced, but they do sound a little force. Fragile, The Spark is fucking incredible and is easily a top 5/10 song for me in the last few decades. I like Dancehall's chorus quite a bit for some reason.

its actually still so fucking funny how butchered this album rollout is

release all the songs 1 by 1 but drop them in the middle of podcast episodes so you dont get streams for them

this way the album is guaranteed to flop even harder than it would have, numbers wise, because the majority of superfans (us) have already listened to the songs (or in my case, some of the songs and then quickly checked out) and have no desire to listen to them again

compare this to taylors album which did leak a few days in advance, but had no singles prior to release and an additional deluxe edition that was a surprise to all

literally broke streaming records with flying colors thanks to not only her fans, but also her haters who had to listen in as well

TS is one of the biggest stars on the planet while SP is a ghost ship with no ability to gain momentum.

They knew it and opted for the podcast rigmarole, they're trying to sell 1300 copies of a $499 box set, not 5 billion streams.

completely neutered any impact this could have. i suppose he is getting podcast streams - maybe those are more than song streams?

taylor swift basically did a corgan with midnights

* it's all synth instead of the guitar records we loved

* cringe lyrics

* bad vocal production [as featured in midnight rain - weird pitch shift bullshit]

* tacky marketing rollouts that annoyed fans [even if you like the record you gotta agree on this]

* desperately wants to reach gen Z

* overpriced merch

i am vaguely, VAGUELY tempted to buy the big boy $500 box set

i mean, autographs, little knickknacks, the whole unreleased section...pretty cool package

but FIVE hundred. fucking christ.

if the standard box was $125 and the big was $250 or even $300, that'd be much more palatable

During the Zuzu’s ad in the podcast it says something like “machine number and autographed by the band”. Is it machine numbered and machine autographed or machine numbered and hand autographed??

If Zuzu's shopping cart numbers are any indication, there are 485 copies left of the super duper box set, the other one being sold out already.

Crazy $hit

ATUM is barely a track. With Ado I Do and Hooligan should have been COUGARED.

So we're 4 out of 7 in the first Act.

33 will prove to be a mistake.

Ram.....now u listened to that crap over and over and you tell mw like it???

Try that: make a tracklist : one atum song, then a machina song, an atum song, an adore song....etc...

It becomes obvious how bad this one is, how flat, how fucking bad his singing and voice became.....

Maybe i change my mind when the new sp 5.3 when rain must fall drops in 10 hours

It’s good business for bolly.

Sell 500,000 albums (they can’t) and get $1 each through traditional music industry procedures =$500,000

Or, sell 1000 copies at $500 a piece =$500,000

Simple math.

Sustainable business model.
That’s all that matters.

There’s probably bigger money to be made for billi with a podcast at this point anyway. Advertising revenue streams etc.And then he can promote his archive projects through said podcast and peddle his tea and postcards. And his ego is so inflated he probably thinks he can get a big deal like joe rogsn or run a radio show like dee Snyder

pretty cool that there's a 0$ manufacturing cost in your simple math.

I mean, the guy can talk the hind legs off a donkey. Pseudo intellectual doublespeak is one of his biggest talents. So I can see the podcast route working.

Actually selling 1000 copies of the ATUM box seat seems like a harder feat to actually pull off.

I haven't read the thread, are there any good songs on this Autumn album? Or do I have to wait until Spring?

For good songs you’d have to wait forever I’m afraid.
