My entire life growing up, every time I lit a candle I would be assaulted with comments about the house burning down and now I'm traumatized and can't relax and enjoy them. I have a six piece set of fancy electric candles, but obviously it's not the same.

My oldest's first word was "mama." This one doesn't want to be put down, so it makes sense! She can say "mama" but I think it's only babbling. Though maybe I'm not giving her enough credit and it's actually an entire dissertation.

I'm 100% legit shocked that the same dog-brain blobs that claim "perfume gives them a headache" will still burn the nastiest candles on earth.

And I'm saying this as someone who can't walk down the detergent aisle without my eyes watering.

That said I still buy a couple Christmas candles around the holidays because it's cozy. Kinda nostalgic for that synthetic pine.

Every so often I succumb to the delusion that I am one of those moms/wives who lights scented candles at home. I have one scented candle that someone gave to me for Christmas in 2021. I’ve lit it less than ten times because each time the smell makes me feel ill. I think it’s oil based as well. So I’m essentially filling my house with petrochemical fumes. I feel unsettled every time I light it, and when I can’t take it any more, I snuff it out and then open the windows for fresh air

I looked it up and apparently it’s soy. But I just don’t like it

I'm fond of diffusers, but essential oils are too expensive and also apparently a lot of them are not great to breathe in (I haven't done my research on which ones are good or bad). I just kinda default to lavender because citrus scents just smell like cleaning products and I'd rather just use incense for scents like patchouli or sandalwood and that stuff.
